Now, we just discussed the water quality item and we're about to go into Executive Session, right?

>> Item 9.

>> Item 9 postponed.
Setting elected officials' salaries.

>> Item 9 just revise the calendar with a new schedule.

>> Oh, okay.
Sorry about that.

>> That's attached in your agenda materials and the new dates that have changed since the last time you approved.

>> Consider and take appropriate action to approve a revised calendar for settle the salaries of elected officials in fiscal year 2013.
I should have called this up earlier.
This is not setting the salaries, this is basically revising the calendar to set the salaries.
Okay.

>> That is correct.
And the calendar is laid out in the backup.
The salary setting would occur on August the 7th, and then the deadline for an elected official to file a grievance if they so choose with the county judge's office would be August 14th by 5:00 p.m.
And then if any materialize through the period, then the grievance committee which was selected and approved on July the 3rd would occur during the time period of August the 8th to the 24th.
And again, if that occurs, the Commissioners court would consider the committee's decision on August the 20th.

>> And this provision is required because we decided not to take action to set the salaries today but delay that one week.

>> That's correct.
And we have had legal look at all of the changes and they are okay with it.

>> Okay.
Normally the county judge send out a letter advising elected officials of the process.
Have I done that already or do you need to do it?

>> Normally you send out a letter advising the elected officials what their salary has been set at after you've had the vote on setting the salaries, and that sets out the grievance process for them.

>> Final action on salaries.

>> And we're working with your staff to get that done.

>> You can tell how eager I am to send that letter out.

>> Judge, so I move that we approve the revised calendar.
For this item.

>> Second.
Discussion on the motion?
All in favor?
That passes by unanimous vote.
Thank you very much.
Sorry to take so long on that item.
I could have called it earlier if I realized what I had done.

July 3, 2012: Travis County Launches New Video Playback System

Our new streaming video system uses a single video clip for each session and items are linked to specific locations on that clip. Some browsers and mobile devices do not recognize the location information and display the entire clip. If this happens the "start time" will help you find your item's video within the larger clip.

If you encounter playback issues check out our video playback help page. If you still encounter problems let us know.

On July 3rd, 2012, Travis County began leveraging free resources by posting Commissioners Court meetings on Youtube. Previously every video clip was edited separately and hosted on the county's video server. The old system also required RealPlayer to view the video clips.

The new systems save time and resources -- and that saves taxpayer dollars!
