Item number 2, consider and take appropriate action on an action concerning outdoor burning in the unincorporated areas of Travis County.

>> Good morning, judge, Commissioners.
Tony callaway with Travis County fire marshal's office.
I actually come today with good news, probably the best news in nearly two years.
I was shocked by the data when the drought index was updated by a&m in the forestry service.
Our current average is 176 for the county and last year we were in the exceptional drought category which is the highest, it's dropped us down to extreme and now we're in the severe drought category.
Those numbers are actually going to be updated gone again next week and it could lowr us one more drought category.
We won't know until the temperatures fall t humidity level is up quite high which is nice for what we do.
And we are seeing some green-up.
So our recommendation would be that there be no action taken.

>> Now, the fire marshal, based on the circumstances, lifted the ban.
So does Commissioners court need to take specific action to lift the ban today or do we just take no action and his lift stays lifted?
Stays in effect?

>> You don't need to take any action.
His lift stays lifted.

>> Okay.
So by doing nothing, that means basically outdoor burning in unincorporated areas is authorized.
We'll have the item on next week in case we need it.
Thank you very much.

July 3, 2012: Travis County Launches New Video Playback System

Our new streaming video system uses a single video clip for each session and items are linked to specific locations on that clip. Some browsers and mobile devices do not recognize the location information and display the entire clip. If this happens the "start time" will help you find your item's video within the larger clip.

If you encounter playback issues check out our video playback help page. If you still encounter problems let us know.

On July 3rd, 2012, Travis County began leveraging free resources by posting Commissioners Court meetings on Youtube. Previously every video clip was edited separately and hosted on the county's video server. The old system also required RealPlayer to view the video clips.

The new systems save time and resources -- and that saves taxpayer dollars!
