Travis County Commissioners Court

May 22, 2012 - Item 12
Agenda

View captioned video.

12 is to consider and take appropriate objection on budget amendments, transfers and discussion items. We did have a long list of items there.
and Commissioner Huber, was there a particular one you wanted to --

>> yeah, I just wanted to raise a point for consideration on the adjustment on the e and y for travel and the hourly cost, hourly cost, I understand, but hawkins delfeld is doing this by conferencing for the courthouse committee.
a thousand here, a thousand there, why can't they do this by video conference as well, instead of having to bill in flights and probably revisit this again when we have the next committee in place.
I wanted to raise that as a point of budgetary prudence.

>> ok.

>> well, I think I can address that.
the courtesy asked if they could come in person.
the guy from hawkinsville, he will visit us in two visits and will be here the following week with ernst & young to take questions with the committee.

>> so will we have to go through this drill again with the next committee together?
the problem with having out of state consultants and the cost of getting them back and forth, people do video conferencing all the time.
I'm just -- the committee requested it, that's one thing.
I'm wondering why we can't do it by video conference.

>> perhaps next time we can suggest that as an option as opposed to them coming in, to see what their preference would be.

>> I would like that.

>> I would be glad to do that.

>> I think that -- we have got a project this big, you get all the little deviations everywhere and little costs continue to mount up through time.
I think we need to be vigilant as we go through the process on the bits and pieces.

>> ok.
we will make that request on the next time, if they ask.

>>

>> [indiscernible]

>> separate a 1 and a 2 from the rest of them.

>> ok.
let's vote on all of them except a 1 and a 2.
let's pull those out and treat them separately.
Commissioner Eckhardt's motion.
a 3 to a --

>> 15.

>> it is through a 15 which includes all the mms costing.

>> the transfer.

>> t 1 through t 4.

>> I missed a t on my thing.
but the motion covers that.
second by judge Biscoe.
all those in favor.
that passes by unanimous vote.
should we take a 1 and a 2 together?
that is basically to bring the consultants here to meet with the committee, this picks up their expenses.
I move approval of that.
second by Commissioner Eckhardt.
discussion?
the other thing too, is it a friendly in the future, weat -- we, at least, check into video conferencing to get it done.
all those in favor.
Commissioner Gomez voting against that motion.
others voting in favor.
that carries by vote of 4-1.
thank you mrs.
trio, mr. Jefferies.
