Travis County Commissioners Court
May 15, 2012 - Item 8
Agenda
Number 8 is review and approve a new application to the United States Department of Justice for staff appear operating resources to establish a specialized caseload for high-risk probationers supervised by Community Supervision And Corrections.
and mr. Pena has a question.
>> not really a question, judge, but a statement has been made again not only by the professional community also by the individuals who are on probation.
I want to let you all know and let the public know and I know adult probation department knows that sometimes the individual on probation, placed on probation are inundated with conditions of probation.
and as such that's why you have a lot of revocation of probationers because they are not able to comply with a lot of these issues.
I noticed a good article in the paper about that and I'm hoping the department also and I know it might not be germane to this, but it's important that you know and the public know that sometimes the department doesn't work well with the probationers to make sure they are successful in conditions of probation.
and so a lot of conditions are placed on them so let's work together and try to help resolve some of these caseloads because it does become difficult and a lot of good people make bad mistakes.
and the issue is we've got to help them to make sure they become productive members of society.
that's all I had to say.
thank you, judge.
>> move approval.
>> second.
>> discussion?
all in favor?
that passes by unanimous vote.
