Agenda

Number 3 is a similar resolution to approve resolution thanking Ann and Ralph Ramos for 28 years of service to Travis County and congratulating them on their simultaneous retirements.
should I read it?

>> read it, judge.

>> this one wins the short resolution award.
it reads: whereas ann and ralph ramos have been married to each other for 36 blissful years.
whereas ann and ralph have spent the last 14 of those years working for Travis County.
whereas they started working at the county within days of each other and are both retiring at the end of this month.
now therefore be it resolved that the Travis County Commissioners court does hereby celebrate the service of ann and ralph ramos and does express on behalf of county government our sincere appreciation for their hard work.
and I move approval.

>> second.

>> thank you, judge, Commissioners, I'm director of rmcr and ann has worked with us for her entire career and I'd like to say a few words about her.
one of the great things about coming to Commissioners court for a resolution like that is that not only does ann and ralph get that special kind of love from Commissioners court, but we preserve all -- every minute of every -- every day that's taped here.
and their children 100 or 200 years from now are going to be able to look back at this moment and see ann and see that she's even prettier today than she was when she walked in the door.
we just -- you couldn't ask for a better co-worker than ann.
she's giving, she's hard working.
her work ethic is just -- I call it old school.
but one of the things that I'm really going to miss about ann is during our departmental get-togethers, she and I would sometimes compare notes about growing up poor, and I'll never forget the time that she told me that she was so poor that before they got power lines to their property, her folks would have to send her any time they needed lights, her folks would have to send her in town with a gunny sack to get a bag full of electricity.
now, that's poor.

>> [laughter] ann, we're really going to miss you.

>> I'm going to miss you.

>> that concludes my remarks, judge.
thank you.

>> thank you, ann for your service.

>> any additional remarks?

>> well, I just wanted to add that when I first came to the county about 14 years ago, I happened to go out on site and see ralph at work and I have never seen anyone work as hard as he did.
I was just amazed at that and in the heat and he would have his little dust thing over his collar, but a hard-working man and we do appreciate that.
I don't think I want to comment on him being just as pretty now as when he first came so I think he will pass on that but ralph has search servedus well and we appreciate it.

>> thanks to both of you.
we appreciate the work you've done for Travis County.

>> I had the write this now because the last time I gave a speech last week I got brain freeze.
I want to thank you, Commissioners, for having given me the opportunities to serve the citizens of Travis County and to know that I gave 110% effort on my part every day I was here.
I especially want to thank steven and shawn for inviting us here today.
on my part being able to thank roger and who had faith in me to do my job.
I'm honored to be part of the Travis County family and as I retire, we already have a smart and bright gentleman to step into my tight shoes and continue with hard work and dedication.
anthony cole is your supervisor along with our small crew of victor, vick key, jimmy and dexter.
again, I thank all of you.
this was an experience of a lifetime and I will miss my very extended Travis County family.
thank you.

>> thank you.

>> [applause] ms. Ramos, any words?

>> I don't want to get tongue tied, but yeah, we're looking forward to spending time with our friends and family and will certainly miss our Travis County family.
that's all.

>> thank you.

>> thank you very much.
both of you.

>> [applause] you've been together 36 years so we give you one resolution rather than two.
37.
oof congratulations.

>> congratulations.

>> thank you so much.

>> thank you for your service.
