And let's call up item 23, consider and take appropriate action on resolution dedicating land for cemetery purpose for the new Travis County cemetery located at 14510 wells school road.

>> good afternoon, sherri flemming, county executive for health and human services and veterans service.
I have with me my colleagues and partners at transportation and natural resources.
as you are aware, we -- we recently purchased land in northeast Travis County.
in order to -- to meet our mandatory or our statutorily required indigent barrier program, our international cemetery is near -- near being full and so we needed to expand on the amount of space that we had for burials.
you have done that and there is a series of things that needed to be done in order to get that cemetery ready and this is the actual dedication of the land and I think legal wants to talk about why this is recommended.

>> basically there are statutes that cover the operation and maintenance of cemeteries.
since this is a county cemetery, it is only for the use of indigent burials, not all of the statutes apply completely and there are differing state agencies with differing powers over certain cemetery operations.
again, none of which clearly do or do not apply.
so it's the recommendation of the departments and of legal that we follow what we can determine to be the directed guidelines of these statutes for the establishment and maintenance and operation of the county's cemetery.
and the record keeping and this dedication to the -- of the land to be used just for cemetery purposes.
and some of the guidelines that we will incorporate when we bring back a new semi inventory policy and new indigent burial policy and we will I think separate some of those as well.

>> we believe it's in our best interests to approve the proposed resolution?

>> yes.
this is a best practice type of -- there are some guidelines and criteria that the banking commission, one of the agencies that has control over these issues, has directed in years past that would be good to be followed.
so I think the county would choose to follow those and as always go beyond what is just the -- the least required of the county in order to run this in the best way possible.

>> questions or comments?
move approval of the proposed resolution in item 23.
second.

>> discussion on the motion?
that was seconded by Commissioner Davis.
all in favor?
that passes by unanimous vote.

>> thank you very much.
