Travis County Commissioners Court

March 20, 2012 (Agenda)
Item 15

>> > good morning.
let's call to order the voting session of the Travis County Commissioners court.
I do not have any postponements as of this time.
there is a question, though, about the compensation policy item and that is whether we are ready to bring those policies up and one at a time act on them.
if not, my recommendation is that we postpone that item two weeks.
next week we will bring the compensation market salary adjustments, reclassification and related issues back so it will probably take quite a bit of time.
but if jim and sherri will let me know whether we are ready to bring up the compensation policy issue.
sherri is right here.
are we ready to bring it up today or two weeks from now better?

>> I think staff would be amenable to postponing it, however, postponing it two weeks will put is that we all right in the midst of the market study implementation so I believe there will be a lot of critical h.r.
staff that will be involved in making sure the appropriate buttons get pushed.
so I think their recommendation or request might be that we put it on for the 17th.
if that would meet the court's interests.

>> is there a way to pull out the issues related to compensation? And deal with those next week and on the 27th bring all the others back?

>> there's a way to do whatever the court would like us to do, judge.

>> there were quite a few reclasses discussed last week.

>> yes, sir.

>> so if agreement has not been reached on them, my guess is that they will take quite a bit of time to work through.

>> okay.
so let me be clear.
your direction is that you would want the issues related to compensation in the new policy enumerated next week for potential action.

>> that would help us, I think.

>> okay.
we will get that going.

>> how does that sound?

>> will we get backup on that next week, the details we're going to be discussing in court?

>> well, we -- the -- if we prepare a different document, yes, ma'am.
we sent out an email with electronic copies of the document and we can get you hard copies if we need to.
but whatever -- if we prepare something different than what we have, and I would just have to confer with my committee to see --

>> that's what I was --

>> yes, ma'am.
we'll get it to you as quickly as we can.
thank you.

>> I guess the others such as h.r.
-- I mean hhs, but the other persons that were involved such as the county clerk and I guess the tax assessor folks also brought something up, so at this point it will all be pushed into that same type of time frame?

>> those were the reclasses I made reference to.

>> yeah.

>> we said we would bring those back next week.

>> okay.
okay.
okay.

>> those ought to beco the main issues and any other compensation-related issues we ought to bring up too.

>> okay.
