Travis County Commissioners Court

January 24, 2012 (Agenda)
Item 3

View captioned video.

The fire marshal is here and we'll call that item next.
number 3 is consider and take appropriate action on an order concerning outdoor burning in the unincorporated areas of Travis County.

>> good morning, judge, Commissioners, herschel lee, Travis County fire marshal.
Travis County is currently under a burn ban which will not expire until February 15 unless the court takes action.
we continue to see the small fuels, the native grasses are standing and cured and dry.
those fuels pose a fire hazard should a fire get out in those areas.
I'm talking to you on the eve of what we hope is a significant rain.
but we do not expect the native fuels to start to green back up for quite some time.
so my recommendation to you today is leave the burn ban in place.

>> questions, comments?
by taking no action we leave the burn ban in place.
thank you very much.

>> thank you.
