herschel lee, Travis County fire marshal w a week of light rain our drought index has continued to wall.
we're down about 239 now.
I spoke to a couple of fire chiefs this morning and they report that they are not having any issues as far as fires getting out of control.
also the number of requests for burning are beginning to diminish.
that may have been because it was raining everyday last week and nobody wanted to burn in the rain.
but my recommendation today is to take no action.
and it appears that we will be okay until we get a couple of hard freezes and then we go to have standing amount of fuels.
at this point we're okay as long as people will be careful and remember they need to call their local fire department before they begin burning.
