23, consider and take appropriate action regarding the following requests in precinct 1.
a, approve a prior/first responder agreement between the city of Austin through its emergency medical service department and Travis County and Austin-Travis County first responders organization in the Travis County parks division of the transportation and natural resources department.
and b, authorize county administrator of first responder program, currently charles bergh, parks division director, to sign the application to renew first responder organization registration at Texas department of state health services.

>> good morning, judge, Commissioners.
charles bergh and this is dan chapman, with the parks division with t.n.r.
every two years we -- let me give you some background information.
the parks has been a first responder agency for about 13 years with the Texas department of health in conjunction with Austin-Travis County e.m.s., so we have a -- we have a f.r.o.
agreement, first responder agreement with the state and then we have a response kind of protocol agreement with Austin-Travis County e.m.s., the medical director the e.m.s.
and every two years we have to renew this agreement.
and this relationship basically allows the park staff, the rangers and some of the operations personnel to be able to respond in conjunction to medical emergencies in the park system.
and it basically helps us calibrate our training with first responder organizations.
so it enhances, I think, our level of service in the parks system.
this is a renewal done every two years.

>> second.

>> move approval.

>> miss wilson.

>> the reason I wanted it was in case anyone had any questions.
it's basically the same agreement we've entered into two or three times before.
I know it's exactly the same as the last one and the one before that.
it started about six or eight years ago because there was a change in the law that required agreements to exist.
it gives medical direction for our e.m.t.s.
and the application is an application to be certified as a response organization.
and it specifically requests that the person in charge of the response organization welcome back the one that signs it.
and charles would be the one to do that.

>> any more discussion?
all in favor?
that passes by unanimous vote.
