approve proclamation honoring Lake Travis independent school district on its 30th anniversary

>> thank you all for coming down today, we have a big, big anniversary at Lake Travis i.s.d.
this year, we have a proclamation that we would like to recognize Lake Travis i.s.d for.
I will read that.
whereas the 2011-2012 school year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Lake Travis independent school district in western Travis County, whereas from it's humble beginning on June 12th, 1981, as a single permanent school house with two portable buildings that were home to approximately 500 students to now a dynamic institution of more than 7,000 students, that has earned its second consecutive exemplary rating from the Texas education agency in 2011, the Lake Travis independent school district has come a long way to be coming a very highly regarded district in central Texas.
I might add drive for five, go lady cavs volleyball.
whereas in recognition of this milestone the lake Lake Travis i.s.d, board of trustees and administration, assisted by a planning committee of former and current students, teachers and administrators has organized a series of community events to be held during homecoming week 2011 that will commemorate the district's long standing tradition of excellence.
and whereas the object of this celebration is to create overall awareness of the district's rich history, within the Lake Travis community.
and more importantly, to provide opportunities for students to learn about the unique heritage and legacy that is Lake Travis i.s.d.
now there ever be it resolved that the members of the-- members of the Travis County Commissioners court recognize and applaud faculty, staff, administration and trustees from the Lake Travis i.s.d.
inaugural school year in 1981-1982 for their vision for and dedication to the public education of children along the south shore of Lake Travis.
furthermore we congratulate all faculty, students, staff, administrators and trustees for the past 30 years for their contributions towards a dynamic progression of the Lake Travis area into one exemplary community.
and I move approval.

we are so honored to be here this morning with this recognition and we definitely have some community events planned this week.
of course we have as Commissioner Huber mentioned we have a couple of things this Friday.
our lady cavaliers are playing their game and I don't think they have lost a game this year.
just yet.
and so we think they are on their way to -- I don't want to jinx it but they are doing very, very well, the homecoming football game is this Friday night.

>> we did.
>> you all beat them.
>> I believe we did, yes, sir

>> you all may be on your way then
>> [laughter]

we are a young school district but have come very far and very honored to be part of the Travis County community as well.
