Item 34

>> 34, consider and take appropriate action on the following: a, authorization to print booklet and donor form; b, agreement with Austin community foundation to serve as the 2011 fiscal agent; c, list of recipient federation and charities for use in this year's campaign, and d, campaign solicitations strategy and appointment of lead departments and/or persons.
unless another member of the court wants to take the lead on this, the county judge will take this as his responsibility at I've done in some previous years when we couldn't get another appointed or elected department head to take the lead.
last year was kind of mediocre compared to the year before.
a lot of resources in this and gave it genuine effort and generated about $240,000.
yours truly working with the department heads came in about 100,000 less than that last year.
we are still embarrassed by that figure and we commit to do better.
and what I hope to do basically is to engage our county executives to get department heads to help in this effort, try to get the elected officials who are -- who are also department heads to get their departments involved.
I think that strategy will work and this year instead of stringing it out over a three to four-month period, I hope to give it a four to six-week blitz and get a whole lot more done.
we normally do the same booklet that we update and include all the federation the city of Austin includes but any other questions.
that will be listed.
we have always printed that as county expense.
Austin community foundation is the fiscal agent we work with during the last few years.
do we have that agreement ready?

>> it is ready.
tonight's the backup.
I do not have a signed copy back from the organization yet.
they are still -- their head was out of town until Thursday.

>> they gave us about the best rate we could get and it was a whole lot better than the one before them.
my request is you authorize the county judge to sign that document after community foundation signs it, Austin community foundation, and basically that we approve a, b, c and d.

>> second.

>> I am willing to defer to any other member of the court who wants to take the lead on this, and in my view, even if we don't generate as much money as we would like to, every dollar comes in handy for nonprofit agencies that help the need I can't see.
that's why I think if we give it the best effort we can, it will be multiple blessings for those that really need some.

>> I second the motion.

>> move approval of a.
b.
c and d.
which authorizes the printing of the booklet and contracting with the Austin community foundation for the county judge signing on behalf of the court once the foundation signs that, and we have included city of Austin, added federations and charities and that the campaign strategy will be basically for us to try to get department heads as involved as possible, all that in a motion.
discussion on the motion?
all in favor?
that passes by unanimous vote.
