Item 22b

View captioned video.

Were you here on 22?

>> yes, your honor.

>> because we did recommend article of 22?

>> no, sir, it has to do with the Austin Travis County health and -- the rehab agency funding.

>> [indiscernible]

>> hmmm.
what letter is that, do you know?

>> I believe it's b.

>> okay.
let's pull b out.

>> thank you, judge.

>> any other requests?
all those in favor?
this passes by unanimous vote.
22b, review and approve request granting grant programs applications, contracts for applications to contract and b is the substance abuse for mental services administration, center for substance abuse treatment for juvenile probation to receive year two of potential four year grant to continue to enhance the department's existing drug program -- drug court.
mr. Pena.

>> judge, this is an item that a lot of the community has been discussing about the drug court.
it's very important that we realize that a lot of individuals out there in the community are not receiving the support and the treatment that they need and they are adjudicated and they are not identified as special needs individuals, so I just wanted to know if the funding is at -- the current funding as last year or is it increased?
because there is a great need for services out there.
a lot of people need help out there and treatment and of course case management?
I want to know if there is a staff member that may want to comment if there was any increase in funding.

>> it looks like one of those grant where is the county contribution is 0 and the money from the state or federal government is difficult to tell there is the same.
$198,200.

>> there are more individuals being served, at least projected to be served, so it is an expansion in some regard.
I am not sure if they are finding efficiencies within the same money or what.

>> and to answer your question, the same amount of of money.

>> okay.
is there any possibility there might be an increase?
because when we can funding from the state -- on the federal level, there is a process -- I don't know how it too well, but who do I speak to about that to advocate an increase of -- or request an increase in the funding?
because the need is out there.
it is greater than what is projected.

>> probably chief medina.

>> from juvenile probation?

>> yes.

>> I want you to know the need is greater out there and we need a lot more increase in financing.
thank you very much.

>> no problem.

>> thank you.
appreciate it.

>> second.
discussion on the motion?
all those in favor.
that passes by unanimous vote.
on those budget items, I told pbo we would call those items up at 10:30 this morning.
so the budget rules, all of the budget items, we will call up at roughly 10:30 and I really doubt we get to it before then.
