Now back to the citizens communication.
we thank you all for your patience today.
I thought it was important to get this fire item over and get those individuals back to their duties and responsibilities, most of which are fire related.
but we have gus pena number 1, followed by morris priest, followed by tate marky -- I think he was with the fire people.
tony calloway, he's the assistant fire chief, isn't he?

>> yes, sir.

>> dan chapman, park ranger.
pete baldwin, okay.
and it will be dr. Kim and ronnie reeferseed to fill out the four who were not with the fire group.
good morning.

>> good morning, judge Biscoe, Commissioners.
gus pena, proud east Austin native, proud united states marine corps veteran.
I do thank you all for acknowledging the efforts of all first responders.
it's a monumental task and it hits the human heart.
I know it hit mine and my families also to see the situation that other people are going through in this catastrophic.
I ask everybody to pray for the people who lost their homes, the people who went through this catastrophic situation.
especially for those who are homeless now because of that.
and along with that particular statement, I would like to ask the mayor and, of course, county Commissioners court and I called the governor's office to let them know, I'm pretty sure they will know that the social service agencies will be hit pretty hard.
they are already inundated with request for support and as we speak at the city of Austin, the request for social service agency assistance was 28 -- in excess of $28 million and only 23 were -- 23 million were provided or maybe less, I believe.
anyway this goes to the matter of helping out the human beings and their losses.
I just can't fathom anybody's house being burned down to the ground or people's lives being put at, you know, risk.
having said that, please look into that.
I also asked the mayor to increasing -- Austin energy -- I'm not an attorney but there has to be some way to transfer funding from Austin energy and its millions to help out folks in need.
thanks to all the first responders.
I would like to mention especially kudos to the starflight.
I have been a crew chief to hueys and ch-46 helicopters and it's taxing.
in the marine corps and I can tell you it's taxing and kudos and thank them and firefighters and police, e.m.s., everybody helping and neighbors helping neighbors out.
last item is today's paper has the editorial help rep Texas vietnam veterans.
when I was growing up I was thinking about how we were going to help out the world war I and world war ii and korean veterans.
it's time not to forget about the vietnam veterans.
here in Texas a vietnam veterans memorial was being built here, supposed to be built in Austin near the capitol.
funds are needed and I know it's going to take away from the catastrophic events that happened.
I'm a proud graduate of johnson high school.
we lost 27 of my fellow students in vietnam.
booker t.
loveton, toby rodriguez.

>> [buzzer sounding] anyway, help them out if you can.
help out the victims. Thank you all very much for your time.

>> thank you, mr. Pena.
thanks for your patience.
mr. Priest.

>> thank you, judge, Commissioners, morris priest speaking on my own behalf.
I know my brother and my cousin are still fighting these fires and trying to save their own houses out in cedar creek and steiner and different areas.
I notice that this contract that was rejected by the fire department some time ago that I spoke to y'all about and the race based hiring of two lieutenants that was settled with the emergency responders.
I would hope we would get new city management.
I know with the fire chief and art acevedo.
many problems, nullification of obama care.
many of these issues along with some of the issues of this current fire situation will be covered on front line Texas, channel 16 on Wednesday or channel Austin.org.
I've made that available previously and anybody from the county that wants to come on the program and speak on any of those issues tomorrow night.
many issues that we've seen such as la bear and chester's nightclubs and midtown and the relays and access television and toll roads and all those immigration issues and other issues that I'll cover on the show tomorrow may have some of the same things in common, but one thing I do know that the word of the lord came to joe jonahand the reason was it's not about you.
I spoke to both of the don smiths, one the fire chief and the cadet and the one involved in this lawsuit.
many of these firefighters and greg and all the people at retirement firefighters association, many of these people, even bock knicks with the fire department, they all wonder why water treatment plant 4.
now we know why.
we have these situations in our community but most of them are based if we speak to truth and love and realize there is a spiritual answer for this, we'll see some of the things that we come to learn over the years.
and many of us go way back.
I was talking to Commissioner Davis earlier.
he and all the people that came before us and we're hoping people will come behind us.
we've got a lot of great people, the most dynamic people we've ever seen and we need to take care of them.
many of these issues that we see locally and nationally and statewide, governor perry, put in a declaration of disaster.
you can call the red cross and text a donation on 89999 at red cross.

>> [buzzer sounding] greg hamilton said they may be letting people in spice wood springs, but I wanted to let you know we'll continue to keep them in our prayers and work hard and have many more successes and this has been a devastating thing to go through.
thank you for your efforts and thank everybody for doing what they are doing.
thank you.

>> thank you, mr. Priest.
doctor kim.

>> I thank all of you, specially the police and fire and the sheriffs and the constables and, of course, the military.
and the troopers and the f.b.i., c.i.a.
and firefighters, all of them.
I need to tell you something.
as the fourth branch of american government, in today's american-statesman, Austin american-statesman recorded great articles, as articles of "new york times," specially

>> [indiscernible] Texas attorney general.
he let $17 million going to the -- instead of to Texas government.
that's unbelievable.
this morning I found on email from white house, it was dated September 1.
I checked it this morning.
I sent one more corrections request this morning to the white house.
I'll let you know the next response from the white house.
I repeated my information request to the white house.
the state and local government denied through

>> [indiscernible] authority, I have contacted the white house correction request by writing to the white house for 21 years, since 1990 at the time of president george bush, sr., about american government wrongdoings of my family case.
15,875 days more continuously since in 1988 my government -- from Texas Travis County to south korea.
