>> item 25.
consider and take appropriate action on the fiscal year 2012 interlocal agreement with the city of Austin for central booking and related services.

>> I'm roger jeffries, county executive for county safety.
I'm going to ask -- darrin, you are out there in the hall.
yes, sir, we're coming to you and asking you to approve the f.y.
12 central booking interlocal.
over the last year we've been in negotiations with the city of Austin to put in place an interlocal for f.y.
12.
the interlocal that we are currently under, this is the last year that we can amend that so we have been working with them to come up with an agreement that is mutually beneficial.
so what we're bringing to you today is the interlocal that we -- both the city of Austin and Travis County and the sheriff's department has agreed to.
if you'll take a look at your backup, the central booking reimbursement from the city of Austin this year -- or for f.y.
12, excuse me, $6,345,554.
a 7% -- 7.6% increase.
and what that will do is allow the sheriff's department to add a nursing post to central booking to deal with some of the issues that have come about as a result of new regulations from the state Commissioner on jail standards.
and also it accounts for a small increase in benefits for civilian and pop staff.
the one thing that you should nolty is it's not a multi year agreement.
what we have agreed is to do a one-year agreement and enter into negotiations for a mutually beneficial possibly, hopeful multi year agreement beginning in f.y.
13.

>> and why is this a good agreement for Travis County?

>> it allows -- well, it provides for reimbursement for central booking services.
you can see in your backup what the total cost of that is.
the city of Austin picks up -- again they will be picking up about $6.3 million of that total cost.
and for this year it's an increase that's large enough that will allow for major sawa to add a nursing post in the central booking area.

>> and a nursing post is how many nurses?

>> seven nurses.

>> any other comments?
others here for moral support?
you look good.
court members?
move approval.

>> second.

>> discussion on the motion?
all in favor?
that passes by unanimous vote.

>> thank you all.

>> thank you very much.
thank you for your hard work.
we see the final product here, but we know there were many negotiating surfaces and this started out several months ago, right?

>> yes, sir, that is very true.

>> okay.
we won't give you all pay increases, but we'll try to help you save your jobs.
thanks again.

>> thank you all.

>> thank you.

>> we are close to being on time, y'all.
we indicated our intention to call up 27 at 10:00 a.m.
what item are you all here on?
27?

>> yes.

>> I don't think anybody will care if we call it up a couple minutes early.
if we could get mr. Eckstein to head this way.
32 we indicated at 11:00.
right, mr. Harlow?
11:00 I've got 19 and 32.
why don't we call up 24 right quick.
how is that?

>> kind of goes with 32 in a way.
