Number 2, introduction of carlos rivera, director Travis County health and human services department.
this is the carlos we've been hearing so much about.
>> yes, sir, good morning.
judge and Commissioners, sherri fleming, county executive for health and human services and veterans services.
I am pleased to introduce to you our new colleague and partner at the city of Austin, mr. Carlos rivera.
you have his resume but he comes to us with 21-plus years experience in health and wellness and most directly from the city of hartford, in hartford, connecticut where he search and rescued as director of the health and human services department there.
you will see he has a string of very notable accomplishments we think will be seasoning to the wonderful partnership that we have with the city of Austin in the public health area and social services and variety of potential of new and different areas.
with that said I'll turn it over to mr. Rivera to make any comments he would like to make.

>> it pleases me to be here.
Austin is a wonderful city.
Travis County is certainly equally wonderful.
we look -- I have a great team at first glance and certainly from experience in reading about the accomplishments of the department, great team working with me, great partners to work with and we look forward to continuing to develop the health and wellness infrastructure of the city as well as getting our community involved in all issues regarding to health and wellness.
what we aspire to do, again, is to have a partnership not only with our professional partners but with the community at large in terms of determining how best to use the resources of the health and human services department to improve the life of our residents.
so once again I'm pleased to be here and I thank you.
