>> 23, consider and take appropriate action on legislative matters, including a, final report on the first called session, 82nd Texas legislature, and b, discussion of impact of particular bills on Travis County.

>> judge Biscoe and Commissioners, deece eckstein.
a very brief report today and I apologize for getting it to you at this late moment.
as everybody knows, the first called session of the 82nd legislature has adjourned.
sine die, so we are done for now.
the legislature was in session for 170 straight days, which may be a new record.
during the special session there were 121 bills filed of which eight passed.
we were tracking 22 of those, of which four passed.
we are working on a summary of both the regular session and special session that we will present to the court probably the first of next month.
in the meantime I wanted to be responsive to a question the court asked about last week, which had to do with funding streams for the Travis County health care district and changes in state law regarding that.
there was a provision that passed in senate bill 7, and I've attached for the court's reference a copy of the section of senate bill 7 that was relevant to that.
it has to do with state funding for abortion-related services, pregnancy termination services.
it is actually, as you can see, a rather complex section and the attorneys for the health care district are now reviewing it and I think at some point in the near future we'll be able to make a presentation to the court either in executive session or in open session at the court's desire about the legal ramifications of the provision.
but I did want to get the provision into the hands of the court and let you know that we're working on an analysis of that.

>> so have we gotten any indication from the health care district as to what fiscal impact this bill may have on them?

>> I think they're still looking on that.
I think they're still looking at that.
the provision that was inserted into senate bill 7 has a number of definitions, has a number of transactional qualifiers in it, and I think they are still trying to figure out exactly what its implications are for them as a health care district.

>>

>> questions?

>> what action if any do you need from us today?

>> nothing, judge.

>> we can easily grant that, mr. Eckstein.
thank you very much.

>> thank you very much, judge.
