Item no.
5 and I think there are some organizations representatives outside?
5.
consider and take appropriate action on proclamation recognizing the numerous organizations that have coordinated efforts in fighting wildfires in Travis County.

>> I put this on the agenda because of the ongoing awesome collaborative efforts to deal with the crises that this drought that brought upon us.
while wildfires are a concern all over the county.
I think precinct 3 wins the trophy for the most cedar, perhaps.
so I have a very, very high interest in -- in the good work that all of these folks present.
so I'm to read this proclamation.
whereas a number of wildfires have taken place recently in oak hill, Leander, off hamilton pool road, started on undeveloped land because of high wind and extreme dryness of the area due to lack of rain, these fires quickly grew and spread.
whereas neighborhoods and individual homesteads were near the raging fires, some residents have to be evacuate and some homes have burned and whereas in the oak -- in the case of the oak hill fire numerous structure fires were being fought at the same time while the wildfires continued to expand.
and whereas there was no loss of human life and whereas there was damage -- there were damages and destruction to a number of homes, possessions and land, miraculously, given the high wind conditions, these fires were not as devastating as they could have been.
whereas the coordination of the Travis County sheriff's office and constables, Travis County emergency services districts, star flight, Austin fire and police departments, Texas department of public safety, Austin community college, police, Austin Travis County e.m.s., Austin energy, Austin water utility, Texas gas, the Texas forestry service and another nearby jurisdictions showed how entities of various jurisdictions can work well together for the safety of our citizens.
now, therefore by virtue of this proclamation, the Travis County Commissioners court extends its thanks and gratitude, I would add deepest gratitude to the men and women of these organizations for their coordination, coordinated effort in keeping Travis County citizens safe.
