receive comments regarding a request to temporarily close sassman road just east of thaxton road for culvert improvements beginning July 18, 2011 through August 19, 2011 or until construction is completed in precinct 4.

joining me is david grier our traffic engineer to help me answer any questions that you may have.
this request is to close a portion of sassman road so we can reconstruct a culvert crossing that is making the road too narrow.
so what we want to do is essentially lengthen that culvert so that you have a wider pavement going over the top of that roadway.
with the completion of our 2001 bond project on mckinney falls parkway which is nearby, we expect more traffic to be using this road and this is a safety improvement that we believe is needed.
allows us to close the road, get the work done more quickly, efficiently, under safer conditions as well.
we recommend approving the closure.
