Number 4, fireworks in unincorporated Travis County.

>> yes, sir, judge, last week there was a proclamation made by the court in accordance with golfed code 418.
in that declaration prohibition of fireworks during the season.
post that action taken, governor perry did pick up and sign off on the disaster proclamation.
we're still in critical situation.
obviously we know by the testimony before you last court how dangerous fireworks can be during this time period, how unusual it is what what we are going through.
we made all efforts with all media outlets to get the information out in reference to the proclamation, in addition to the disaster claration by the governor.
we Austin with that effort on a daily basis.
yesterday there was a media production in Cedar Park where the fire department invited us to speak for a multiple media outlets.
during that they demonstrated how easily fireworks can start grass fires in the lower fuel during this time period.
in addition to that, the county sign shop is working diligently to produce 40 temporary signs.
seems those signs are produced in reference to the fire works ban, we will be distributing throughout the local area in conjunction with the current burn ban signs and in some additional areas.
in addition, pete baldwin from the emergency management office has been working with Texas dot in reference to the signs along the major intersections and he is working currently with them to get wording up on those signs as well.

>> questions or comments.

>> good work.

>> by taking no action, thanks to the governor, the extension stays in place until 7 a.m.
on the morning of July 5.

>> that is correct.

>> we'll carry this item from week to week.
if the conditions change, we will be anible to take action.
the other thing is that thanks to the legislature, I guess the governor, the fire marsha all the county judge now have the ability to lift a burn ban immediately before the court's next meeting.
does that take effect immediately or September 1?

>> I haven't looked at it yet.
I'm not sure.
I can get that information for you.

>> next week is soon enough.

>> I was going to say immediately, but I will yield to our attorney.

>> the other question will be whether that applies to a prohibition against the sale and use of fireworks also.

>> judge, there was one thing I wantd to mention for the court.
that is next Tuesday we're going to have a small presentation for the court, man--mainly for the public watching by television.
that is to let them be aware of what we are going to be doing between now and the fourth of July and after the fourth of July in regards to all the service providers who are out there that are trying to protect us from these dangers.
that will be reports from star flight, one report representing all the esd chiefs as well as the fire marshal's office and other groups that we feel like that you just need to hear from and the public needs to hear from in regards to this very dangerous time.
I was driving down I 35 and the car in front of me within a three-mile radius through two cigarette butts out.
so I think it's important for us to use this time, and that is why we are going to keep it on the agenda for the next several Tuesdays, it's very important for us to remind folks that this is a time of critical care and paying attention and really watching what you are doing because of the danger that we now face.
next week, judge, we're going to actually, if it is okay with the court, come in and take those few moments to give everybody a briefing.

>> okay.
thank you very much.

>> thank you.

>> appreciate your hard work.
