>> second.
>> comments?
>> I'm corey jones, I'm a counselor of the summer safety program.
this is my first time attending, going to be my first time attending the father's day events.
I wanted to speak a little bit about the importance of fathers being involved in the church of life.
I myself became a teenaged father at the age of 16.
I decided to stay here in Texas to raise my daughter on my own with no family here because I didn't want my daughter to fill a void in her life.
my father wasn't involved in my life, I had a boy.
trying to seek out a -- I had a void, trying to seek out a way to fill that void.
I said that I would do that by being here for my daughter, taking on the responsibility that I have created.
I believe that it's important for all men to step up to the plate, get involved in their children's life for school, play sports with them, just have that bonding time with them so they can feel like they're worth something.
a lot of them that don't have their father, they go out and seek it another way.
maybe positive or negative, but most of the time it's negative.
so I just wanted to encourage all of the fathers to come out, get involved in your children's life, just show them how much they're worth.
it's an everyday task.
not something that you do once and you stop.
you keep doing it, even when they are past age 18, you have got to be there always.
I just I'm very thankful that I was able to step up to the plate at the age of 16 and raise my daughter on my own with my wife now and it was just -- it was amazing.
I want to encourage all guys to do that.
these kids really need you in their lives.
>> thank you so much.
>> thank you.
>> I'm david bailey with the Austin fire department.
the fire department is privileged and it is a true pleasure to be involved with this organization, river city youth foundation.
we do several activities with.
we'll be there at the parade with fire trucks and certainly involved in Saturday's event.
as firefighters and public servants, we are always mindful of our role as role models.
and we take those roles very, very seriously.
we want our citizens and certainly children and youth in the community to -- to know that -- that our role certainly as members of the fire department and servants to the community, we're very proud of, but we're also equally proud of being family men and women that our families are very, very important to us, our roles as fathers equally as dear to us.
we -- we again very much are very thankful to be involved in the program and to have a chance to model some of that behavior.
again, mona gonzalez, the executive director, expresses her regrets for not being here.
she is a very busy woman and is trying to get back very shortly, but thanks you so much for the recognition and the proclamation.
>> thank you.
>> thanks very much.
>> thank you.
>> thank you for the opportunity.
>> dr. Cain?
>> yes, sir, I have a question.
>> is it about number 6?
>> yes.
>> okay.
>> about the father's day.
this court is the best court across the nation and across the whole world.
I would like the whole world to know because this court is only one court all of you make up all the time today we made laughing more than 40 times.
this is a great court.
I feel free and comfortable.
my question about the father's day, what do you mean by father's day here?
father's day parade or what is the purpose?
I am a father of a -- of three children.
my child was kidnapped from Travis County to south koreary I can't.
at the time president george w.
bush junior, 43rd, and at the time of a governor rick perry.
December 13th, 2001, up until today.
yesterday, no, June 9th, u.s.

it's a tragedy and it's
>> [indiscernible] of the u.s.
government, especially the marshals, are only contacted u.s.
department of justice, contacted.
I called Friday u.s.
department for the court in san antonio, court clerk, I asked her, why and who sent the -- two u.s.
marshals to my home.
the court --
>> now, we -- are we still talking about father's day parade?
>> yes.
so what we mean by the father's day, what is the purpose?
I contact the u.s.
department of justice, and I contacted you, especially Travis County Commissioners court and the court of appeals.
this is the court of -- this is the court of Travis County.
they dismissed the case.
I asked the -- the u.s.
court of -- u.s.
court that this is a court judge lee yekel he dismissed the case.
he sent my case --
>> father's day parade.
what is the purpose.
>> the purpose is -- do you have an answer.
>> the purpose of the father's day parade is to get the fathers to bonds with their children and to come together and form a community of fathers to bond with each other as well.
I believe that we're lacking a lot of fathers.
with this parade we can bring them together and get them to work together to help grow the community up.
it takes more than just one father to do this.
I believe we have a vast voter of fathers out here together on one core this thing could be very successful.
>> I didn't say one father.
I am one father.
I am a father.
american democracy depends on individual, without individual there is no community.
there is no court, there is no government.
american democracy.
the principle is --
>> by the way, doctor, you can come to that parade, too.
this parade is Saturday.
you are welcome to go.
>> I'm saying --
>> all in favor?
>> thank you, dr. Kim.
that passes by unanimous vote.
>> thank you for your wonderful involvement in all of that.
>> truly.
>> this is taking place many, many years, right?
>> yes.
>> good.
>> thank you so much.
>> hopefully it's getting bigger and better.
