Item 7
Number 7 is consider and take appropriate action to encourage Travis County employees, retire rears and their families to attend tract employee night with the Round Rock express at the dell diamond on Sunday, June 26, 2011.
>> good morning, judge, Commissioners.
diane blanken ship from human resources department.
rodney is handing out a flier that got sent out to elected and appointed officials.
on Sunday, June 26th, the dell diamond and the Round Rock express are hosting Travis County employee and retiree night.
they are going to offer our employees the opportunity to purchase reserve tickets for $10 apiece, which is $4 off the gate admission.
and tickets for $5 which is $2 off the gate admission.
the nice thing about this is for every reserve ticket sold to a Travis County employee or retiree, they will donate $2 to the Travis County combined charities campaign and through every lawn ticket sold the Round Rock express are going to donate 1 dollar to the Travis County combined charities campaign.
we'll get a donation back and early kickoff for the campaign.
I also did want to mention that we are doing the employee benefits meeting and at this event with the Round Rock express will be the first opportunity for our employees to receive tickets for door prizes that we are giving out to some of the attendees of our employee benefits meetings.
there's two things that our employees can do to receive tickets for a chance to win one of these door prizes.
they -- if you've attended an employee benefits meeting, you know what those two things are.
and if you have not attended a employee benefits meeting, we have one scheduled today at the district courthouse.
we have five scheduled for Thursday all around the county.
we have a spanish session scheduled for this Commissioners courtroom at 3:00 on Friday.
I encourage people to attend our employee benefits meetings.
again, I will be sitting in section 119 at that game and I will be handing out tickets to anybody who can show me any of the two things that you have to show me to get a ticket.
it won't cost you anything.
you just have to show me something, and again, you know what it is.
just county attorney's office has approved this.
we're good on that front.
and one of our prizes is an ipad so we've got some nice prizes that have been donated and one of them ipad.
we're hoping employees will want to come and learn about our benefits.
it's June 26th.
employees can purchase tickets by going to www.round rock express.
our super discount code is Biscoe, that's b-i-s-c-o-e, and I hope we get a good turnout.
>> it's a wonderful opportunity.
>> we hope to have more.
we do a lot of things with 5-ks and wellness because we just want some employee events too.
I will say bring the kids.
they are giving hats away to kids 12 and under.
it's family night, your children of all ages can run the bases after the game.
so there's going to be a lot of fun and the gates open at 5:30 and they do allow tailgating.
if you want to come and eat in your truck afterwards or host a party you are welcome to do that.
>> and there's a pool.
>> we have not set up lifeguards for the pool.
they have rock wall, bungee jumping.
I took my son a couple weeks ago and he will a blast.
>> really finance.
>> any questions?
>> just a word of advice, employees that type the special code in Biscoe and get rejected, please call Eckhardt to complain.
>> we also wanted to let you know our 5-k that we hosted, you were there, judge, we did end up making $1,700 for the Travis County combined charities.
so I know it's a little early, I know Travis County combined charity season hasn't kicked off officially yet, but we expect to have another good donation for this event.
and $1,700 from the last event.
>> okay.
thank you very much.
>> thank you, I appreciate it.
