receive update from Travis County 4-h and Texas agrilife Travis County regarding keys to the courthouse curriculum.
we have special guests here, a little smaller than we are.

>> good morning judge Biscoe and Commissioners, cory hallly traffic hhh, and we are students, sixth grade students and one of our americorps volunteers, mary and they basically have been doing, they were part of a program they have been working on.
they did not move up to pearce middle school, three of the schools stayed back and part of this get ready program and have been doing different unique opportunities in after school programming and up thing we worked on this year was what we call keys to the courthouse curriculum, developed by the vg young, county government, Texas association of counties and judges and Commissioners association of Texas and it has a unique curriculum.
there is five lessons and activities that they do and we worked with them and will finish up next week with the last lesson and evaluation and talk about county government and the facets of that and I will turn it over to them to let them tell you what they've learned through the process thusfar.

>> we are in sixth grade and we are

>> this year we learned a lot about science and Texas government.

>> we had 254 counties in Texas.

>> you must be 18 years old to vote and you have to vote in specific precincts.

>> we are thankful for the

>> [indiscernible] that the county government provides.

>> we like this class because we go to a lot of field trips.

>> and this is one of their field trips kind of ending the component with us, to bring them here, to see how the court functions and give them kind of a unique experience and that is really all we have.
we want to make sure you are aware we have this curriculum.
it is very unique.
we have it at 4h office and we can use it anywhere.
and so if you know anybody who wants to use it, we've got it and more than willing to teach it.
if you have any questions for them.

>> how many of you really enjoyed the course?
how many of you would like to become the precinct one Commissioner one day?
that is the precinct that harris and pearce?
how many of you would love to be a county judge on Commissioner's court?
that is my favorite job.

you can if you want.
I want to see this movie, y'all are are working on dvd, right?

>> yes, we have done a lot of -- I teach the science component of the course and we have done a lot of green energy learning and we went down to city hall and we learned all about the solar panels and stuff like that, so we really have been pushing these kids to think about serving and energy and all of the wonderful jobs that are going to be available when they are coming out of college in that next field.

>> they are really bright kids.

>> that's great.

>> I would really like to see your movie when you are done and the curriculum looks really great, the -- it's really rigorous.
are y'all exhausted?

>> [laughter] putting you through your paces, huh?
well, go home and spread the word to your friends and your family what county government does.
