Travis County Commissioners Court

Tuesday, April 12, 2011 (Agenda)
Item 21

View captioned video.

Number 21 is to consider and take appropriate, on a requested agreement to funds local government with the Texas department of transportation for county financial participation and costs for planned roadway improvements to fm 973 in precinct one.

>> last month we received a correspondence from Texas dot requesting our cost share participation in the acquisition costs of right-of-way for the replacement of the colorado river bridge on 973.
the actual project limits are from hw 71 northward across the river and maybe a half mile beyond.
part of that alignment is within unincorporated Travis County.
the cost of the right-of-way for that portion that is within Travis County has been estimated by Texas dot at $5 million.
and they have asked us to put up ten percent of that.
approximately half a million dollars.
we have historically worked in this sort of relationship with Texas dot.
we have the choice of either acquiring the property ourselves in their name or providing them with the funds and then they go acquire.
our preference would be for them to use their own processes as a more efficient way of acquiring the property.
what we would ask the court to do is to approve the agreement and to memorialize that, we have a resolution that has been prepared by the cotattorney's office, and we would need to execute four original copies and have a check issued to Texas dot in the amount of $501,316,004.
we would recommend approval.

>> and I have no qualm about it.
social funding is of course something we have been trying to deal with as far as bond money is concerned.
appeared to be a real good straight forward suggestion as far as trying to improve not only roadway but the bridge also.
so I have no qualm with it.
I don't know if anybody else does.
I'd like to move approval with the particular matter.
ten percent requirement.

>> second.

>> by tex dot for this particular project.

>> seconded by Commissioner Gomez the source of funding?

>> 1984 bond money from precinct one.

>> anymore discussion on the motion?
all in favor.
that passes by unanimous vote.

>> thank you.

>> thank you.
