Item 9
Nine is to approve change order number 2 on to job order number 8, 700 lavaca its fourth floor moldremodel, contract number 10 k 00266 rv, m 2 construction for minor construction and renovation services.
>> judge, I build this off consent.
I just have one question.
it's generic question.
seems on the upper floors that in the last several weeks we have started having modifications to contract.
I am sort of a visual person, and I would like to see, I have no doubt that this is a warranted modification.
but one of the things that I would like, since this is a big project and a tall building and we have a lot of contracts and moving parts, I would like to see a spreadsheet developed that shows the contracts and the initial budgeted costs and modifications that go with those as we walk through this project.
just so that, think it helps us with perspective or would help me to understand it.
it would help us to go back and evaluate it after the fact.
was there room for imimprovement did we do a good job, pat ourselves on the back.
if we could group those in a spreadsheet it would be a very useful tool.
>> yes, exister, --Commissioner, we have a number of different documents that we have created and worked tirelessly on putting these together.
she has just that, identifies all of the contracts that have been let to date, and the value of those.
we also have what we are calling a project tracker updated on a weekly basis that identifies both projected completion dates, any modification to those, and the reasons why.
so we have got a fairly detailed list of information that is available for both the projects themselves and the funding, and we will be happy to share those with the court.
we do have some reconciliation being done right now.
we will continue to make sure we get that reconciled.
deanne is meticulous and wants to get it down to the dollar.
she is working hard to do that right now.
>> that is good to hear.
when we get something like this and it just says that the change order is for minor construction and renovation services, why was that needed, I would just like a because in there.
>> I think, if I may, roger, director facilities department, the change order per se, we send the memo to purchasing right there explaining.
the memo is in your backup.
also the change order.
the change order we say what those items are.
if I may go through and just for clarity here, there are several items, very minor but similar.
two were unforeseen conditions.
the others were as needed.
for instance, let me give an example.
the automatic transfer switch in the server room.
all of this area here mainly for the server room.
if the we get until we get the generators then we have to shut down the server room completely in order to install the automatic transfer switch.
what we are doing is doing it right now before, and planning ahead on that so this way the server will not be shut down.
the other one is the chiller water pipe in the server room.
we are diverting that elsewhere from going over the top of the panel, the electrical panel.
now, the unforeseen condition, there's two them.
one is the mechanical repairs.
when we pulled out the ceiling tile we saw some variable air volume patches that need to be changed locations so this was unforeseen to us.
and also on the outside of the enclosure of the buildings under the glasses is about like four feet of brick wall over there.
and when we look into it and we did not see it's insulated, so we have to insulate for energy efficiency.
so those are the $39,000 listed for what item 3 says mechanical exchange, insulation, electrical pipe, server room, carpet protection, all of that we have in facility and turn it over.
>> and I agree.
I'm really just looking for something that will help streamline this so I don't have to sit here in court for five or ten minutes and explain it.
because we didn't understand the line item backup.
I think for the modifications, if you can build a paragraph in layman's terms it would be helpful.
>> yes.
>> thank you.
>> I move approval.
>> second.
>> thank you.
>> all in favor.
that passes by unanimous vote.
