Item 15 is to consider and take appropriate action on request to allow placement of a piano on county property for the month of April for the play me I'm yours initiative.

>> good morning, judge.
director facility management department.
on March 15 facility management department sev a request from the executive director of alliance Austin requesting placement a piano on county property next to the courthouse complex.
through the initiative play me I'm yours initiative.
this initiative would place about 20-20 piano at strategic locations throughout the city.
this piano would be monitored daily by a piano body and regularly tuned.
Austin also has insurance in case of an incident or injury surrounding the pi anno.
if approved by the Commissioner court, this request, the pi anno would be installed on March 30, 2007, and would be available for public use between April 1 and may 1, 2007.
the office has drafted the license agreement attached.
facility management recommends approval of the request from the arts alliance Austin to place a piano at the county owned property for play me I'm yours initiative at the opera plaza all seating area at the top of the steps surrounding Travis County justice complex.
with me right now we have ms. Alison specter, the program director from the arts alliance Austin and she is here with me to answer any questions you might have regarding this initiative, play me I'm yours.

>> can we have a talent show?
a lot of talent inside the criminal justice center and the civil courthouse.

>> it's for the public's interaction as much as possible, so I hope to.

>> I hope a command performance from judge perkins on his retirement.

>> what kind of piano?

>> ner standard upright.

>> a regular old piano.
you can play any time during the day.

>> yes.
they can, if it's a request, we can put a lock on the keyboards.
it can be lock at certain times if needed.
there aren't any sound on ordinance issues since it's not amplified.

>> we don't think that the judges who conduct business in various court rooms will be disturbed by this piano playing.

>> I don't think, judge, because it's the area we trying to propose is right, is not going to have any noise effect on the courthouses.

>> if we do run into unexpected problems, ie, too noise ee for some of the courts conducting business, we can let you know and either we modify what we have or we basically terminate.

>> yeah, if it does become an issue, definitely it is something that we would be, you know, we can either look at adding a lock and putting times on it or remove it completely.

>> remove approval of the request.

>> second.

>> discussion on the motion?
