Item 4
Number 4, consider and take appropriate action on an order concerning outdoor burning in the unincorporate rated of Travis County.
let me get my umbrella before we take this item up, fire marshal.
>> you probably won't need it by the time you get it.
the shower this morning was welcome.
the current thought among the weather forecasters or the people who monitor the drought index it takes at least a half inch of rain to have an effect on that drought index.
to date, the drought index in Travis County is 532, whichist an increase from last week.
there are 178 counties now in Texas with burn bans.
there is another chance of another shower like we had this morning later on in the week, but we do not believe these small rains will have a significant effect on the drought index.
we are coming up on the week that is recognized as wildfire awareness week and we will bring you some information on that next week hopefully.
the crept burn ban will not expire until April 6 and my recommendation is leave that in place.
>> questions, comments?
by taking no action, we leave in place the burn ban that's there.
we'll have it back on next week.
hopefully and good news about rain.
>> that would be good.
>> thank you.
>> thanks.
