Item 2, approve resolution honoring jim sylvester for his many years of service to the boy scouts of america.

>> those who have come here with him, please come forth, have a seat.

>> I didn't know about this until about 10 minutes till 9:00.
very surprised.
very much so.

>> well, good morning.
I will reads the resolution.
jim sylvester is an eagle scout and first became active with the capital area council in 1988 serving as a unit Commissioner for the lone star district, then the committee chair for pack 419 and cub master.
whereas in 1996, jim started troop 8787 sponsored by vfw post 8787 where he served as scout master for 15 years.
and whereas while serving as a scout master, jim served in the positions of district chairman, assistant district Commissioner, unit Commissioner, round table Commissioner and round table staff and served on the council's strategic planning committee wood badge staff sr 54, regional camp visitation team and is currently on the council camping committee.
concala lodge executive committee and scout master for the 2010 national jamboree troop 1640.
whereas jim's could you telling recognition includes order of the arrow vigil honor, cub master award, scout master award of merit, district award of merit, george meany award, arrowhead honor, Commissioner's key, distinguished Commissioner award, scouter's key, cub scouter award, weblo's den leader award, tiger cub coach award, boy scout leader's training award and the arrow of light.
and whereas in his spare time, jim serves at president of the mcneal ffa booter club, vice president of the Travis County youth show and on the board of directors for the Texas advocacy project which serves the needs of victims of domestic violence and whereas jim's father is an eagle scout and recipient of the silver beaver, jim's two sons are both eagle scouts and his daughter has earned the venturing silver award, gold award and the ranger awards.
and whereas jim received the silver beaver award on February 28th, 2011.
now therefore be it resolved that we the Travis County Commissioners court recognizes james sylvester for his many years of service to the boy scouts of america and on receiving the silver beaver award.
and I move approval.

>> how do you fit all those badges on your shirt?

>> [laughter]

>> I don't know.
it just -- we get them there somehow.
I want to thank the Commissioners court for the recognition.
thank my friends and fellow scouters and scouting for submitting this and I did not have any idea this was coming until about 10 minutes before, my assistant florence and said you are on the agenda, you are supposed to be there today.
I don't know anything about the agenda item and they showed it to me and I was very surprised and humbled and honored by this opportunity to receive this resolution and I want to thank everyone here out of your busy schedule to make this happen.

>> thank you for your service.
it's a real big deal.
you know, years ago I used to be a cub scout and also boy scout.
of course, it was very meaningful experience for me growing up.
thank you for what you do.

>> we're just pleased to have him.

>> the boy scouts of america which we represent and also scouting, the capital area council.

>> thank you.

>> my son the boy scout wanted me to mention, he's looking out for whoever did the donuts in the 10th street parks.
the boy scouts are watching.
