Travis County Commissioners Court

Item 16
Number 16 is to consider and take appropriate action regarding the appointment after groundwater availability stakeholder committee, including a, extension of application deadline, b, expansion of rancher category to, quote, rancher agricultural, end quotes for western Travis County, and c, other related issues.
>> hello, anna bolin and steve manila, Travis County tnr.
we are looking to affirm the decision to extend the application deadline until this Friday, February 18th at five p.m.
originally we thought that the deadline would be up on February 3rd.
but due to the nature of the very specific types of interests we were asking the applicants to select, we were having troubles getting the whole interest spectrum represented.
so right now the application is still on the website and we are looking to, like I said, extend it through this Friday and bring the item back next week for a stakeholder selection.
>> instead of doing it until 5:00 this Friday, I was just thinking it would help the court, I think, to get those over the weekend.
so what if we extend the deadline to Friday at 12 noon.
assuming that y'all still work Friday afternoons like you used to when I last checked.
that would give us that afternoon at least to add any late filers to the packet and get that delivered to members of the court on Friday for use over the weekend plus Monday in preparation for the Tuesday meeting.
and we would expect to make all the appointments on Tuesday, right?
>> we would like you to.
>> okay.
>> and --
>> is that okay?
>> that's fine.
>> the backup suggested today I just thought if we're going to extend the deadline we may as well give a little bit more notice than today's meeting.
but Friday at noon.
and Friday is ain'tth of February.
-- is the 18th of February.
at 12 noon I think would be good.
I put that in the form after motion.
>> second.
>> discussion?
all in favor?
that passes by unanimous vote.
and b for the western part, when Commissioner Huber and I kind of looked at the list that we were working from, it looked like if we expanded it to include agriculture, in addition to rancher, that would give us probably a few more applicants we hope.
so that's the purpose of b.
to our knowledge y'all on the east side didn't have the same issue, right?
so that's why we kind of limited that to western.
>> move approval.
>> I second that.
any issues with this, staff?
>> nope, there's not.
>> does it look as good to y'all as it did to us?
>> it does.
>> good.
all in favor?
that passes by unanimous vote.
c, what are we missing?
>> other related issues?
anna, anything?
>> I don't know of one.
>> except encouraging us to be ready to move on Tuesday.
we did get a lot of -- we did get quite a few applications.
>> so far we have 35 applications.
and I want to say on the third I believe we had 28.
so we have gotten -- we have received more applications since then.
and I have the matrix that I can send to you guys at the end of Friday at noon.
>> that would be good.
>> we would appreciate that.
all right.
>> thank you.
>> thank you very much.
appreciate it.
do I see mr. Eckstein head this had way?
headed this way?
I believe the legislative item is the only one left besides executive session, isn't it?
>> 22.
>> 22?
okay.
