Citizens Communication

View captioned video.

Citizens communication is next.
and mr. Pena has just arrived.
and to my knowledge he's the only citizen who is interested in speaking under citizens communication.

>> thank you, your honor.
appreciate it.
sorry for being late.

>> > good morning, judge, Commissioners.
judge pena, native east Austin Austinite.
thank you, judge, for allow meg to speak.
I’ll make it quick because I have to go.
we had to cancel a youth trip today because of of the cold weather.
I was going to san antonio with some kids that have been expeld from school.
it's a program that Austin independent school district failed to fund the last 25 years we've been doing it.
that's why I’m late.
but I want to say this, we're working heavily with the speaker of the house straus and other senators and representatives on funding for the Austin independent school district.
we're considered a property rich district.
I want the people to know that are listening to me, call your senators.
I don't care if they're not your senators or state reps it in your district, call them anyway.
we're hurt outing there and funding is a huge emergency crisis for not only the school district, but all of us also.
but education first and foremost is very important.
without education you can't get a job.
our kids won't function.
they'll be in jail.
hopefully not.
truancy and whatever.
second of all, we have some so-called people that were hired at the city, county, state government to analyze all data and all funding that is available before you get to the funding cycle or the budget cycle.
so what has happened at the school district and ever where else should not have happened.
that's why they have analysts, that's why they have so-called experts.
I knew as an i.r.s.
investigator when I worked for the state, federal, city, county governments that you plan and you analyze what funding you have before you reach the funding cycle, the budget cycle.
and we're in a world of hurt like I said right now because of that failure for people to do their job.
the other thing also interesting, I move by ryan rogers, who has filed a complaint against the city of Austin.
there are so many secrets, we need transparency, honesty, inclusive.
it's not happening too much.
I appreciate it here because we can dialogue with the Commissioners.
they include us.
but there are problems within the city council and the state hierarchy.
last and foremost I think we need more mentors and tutors for our school kids that are dropping out or becoming truant or just have given up because they can't pass the test.
call your state representative, call your senators, lobby them.
tell them we're not a property rich district.
we need help out there funding to keep our schools open, keep the teachers employed.
keep our kids educated.
our society's worth is measured by the treatment of the less fortunate.
please vote -- appreciate and show your gratitude to the veterans that have served in harm was way and iraq and ahfc.
not too much is being said about the veterans.
they need a lot of help.
please show your appreciation.
help them and lobby for them.
they need housing, ptsd treatment.
meament treatment one is of the things we're looking at and also alcoholism.
very very much, -- tur very much, judge.
thank you for letting me speak today.
I’m on my way out.

>> thank you.

>> stay warm.

>> anybody else for citizens communication, whether you signed in or not?
please come forward.
