Item A1

A 1 is to submit and take appropriate action on proposed amendments to the Texas department of transportation's outdoor advertising rules, in support of preserving the beauty of scenic highways in unincorporated Travis County.

>> judge.
this is relatively routine.
last year txdot in addition yailted a stakeholder process for outdoor advertising and last year we submitted a detailed list of our concerns related to those rules.
we have consistently supported the scenic Texas provisions along the lines of outdoor advertising, and that stakeholder committee resolved a number of issues and there were several left outstanding.
one of them specifically being elimination of signs and particularly in the rural areas.
so they held a public hearing in January -- January 10 and a deadline for submission of written requests is the 28th, and we -- this is a submission and reillustrate raition of what we really submitted last year that's relative to the opportunity to submit additional requests.

>> okay.
so we didn't get any response to our submission last year, or they didn't take any action?

>> I haven't seen the final -- the final, but in conference -- in calls with scenic Texas and the right-of-way division, I know that they did not address some of our primary concerns, which were the deed restrictions enforcement as part of their permitting process, and that's one of the reasons we have added this again, just to reemphasize it, although the elimination of signs is really the outstanding issue related to their internal review process on their rules.

>> I second your motion to submit these plans.

>> I did hear a motion.

>> right.
I so move.

>> we're still here.
we're still working.

>> we're still here, we still want these changes.

>> all in favor?
that passes by a unanimous vote with Commissioner Gomez temporarily off the dais.
