Item 17

View captioned video.

17 is to approve ratification and modification of number 6 of services provided pursuant to interlocal agreement number il 040243 re, Austin independent school district for after school care.

>> good morning, judge, Commissioners, mar vib bryce, purchasing agent.
I understand there was a question on the item.
the court would prefer a brief overview or go straight on to the questions?
is.

>> I am support but I had a couple of questions given the clar amount--dollar amount.
the numbers in there of the students served by that, there's a number that, one number and an additional number listed that is served by the other entity.

>> the harvest foundation.

>> right.
is there overlap in those two numbers?
I was looking at it just from a standpoint of the dollar amount per individual that benefitted.

>> I would say it's possible because the way the after school program is structured, the students participate in certain programs. Then the contractors who contract with the aisd and are reimbursed through our funds, for example, the boys and girls club or I c care or something along those lines, a child can participate in a cooking program or another activity and also participate in the Saturday conferences that are done by the harvest foundation.
so I think it's possible that there could be because a child might be participating in multiple programs.

>> the other thing I had, do we have any tracking, any follow-up on the effects of this program on the students that participate in it?

>> we periodically have reported to the court.
we may not have had a report since you have been in office, Commissioner Huber, but we do have periodic reports from the school district on the impact of the after school programs. Historically we have seen increased task scores, improved attendance, reduction in disciplinary referrals.
those are the measured that we're primarily focused on and we have seen great results in those areas.
we can provide access to the previous reports and also inquire about the next available.
usually they come in the summertime after the school year ends because it's easier to sort of compile the data for the school district at that time.

>> think these are worth programs, but I would be interested seeing that backup provided when we get this interlocal for approval.

>> second.

>> this amendment is only for $25,000.

>> yes, sir, it is.

>> for the harvest foundation.

>> yes, sir.
at the time that we approved the interlocal agreement with the school district, we were still working on the harvest foundation portion.
so we are just making that amendment for those services.

>> move approval.

>> second.

>> discussion on the motion?
all in favor.
that passes by unanimous vote.

>> .

>> thank you.
