Citizens Communication
Citizens communication is first and this item gives residents an opportunity to address the court on any matter not on the agenda for up to three minutes.
and three residents have signed in to speak.
gus pena is first.
followed by steven turner, followed by morris priest.
>> morning, judge, Commissioners.
gus pena.
judge, Commissioners, have y'all ever thought about what monetary impact the demolition or deploation they call the holly power plant tear down.
we call it tear down.
I grew up in east Austin, so we call it the tearing down of holly power plant, how much it's going to impact Travis County?
I know how much it's going to impact the city of Austin because they in the lack of infinite wisdom they chose to select the second highest bidder instead of the lowest bidder, so there's controversy among that issue there.
so I wonder -- I wanted to plant a seed in your brain and wonder how much impact it will have with us throughout the Travis County system.
anyway, I’ll leave it at that.
and happy new year to everybody.
according to the united states department of veterans affair study last year an average of 18 veterans a day commit suicide.
we're talking about veterans returning from iraq and afghanistan.
20% or more of veterans returning from iraq or postponement have pstd and brain injury.
anything can trigger brain injury or shell shock.
it could be the sound after gunshot or a weapon being fired.
this brings on memories of that.
so anyway, we have a lot of veteran out there that has to do with the veterans court.
I’m not saying it's okay to commit crimes, but sometimes what happens in war carries over to becoming a citizen back in civilian life.
and these are the things we need to look at.
the next legislative session reconvenes January 11th.
we're in for a world of hurt just like I told the city council.
I called the mayor and I spoke to speaker straus again.
he has two people that want to oust him.
I’m a democrat.
my daddy was a democrat a long time ago, but we need to keep this guy in office.
I’m not saying anything bad about the other people, state reps, but speaker straus has worked with republicans and democrats and I know that he has strong conservative values.
that's cool for his party, but he also works with us democrats.
and especially talking to me, a guy from east Austin, it's very humble the guy will say hello, mr. Pena.
I’ve seen you on tv.
that's very humbling to me.
at least he notices what we say.
loss of driving, dropout prevention, housing, health care, you name anything that will be impacted, the budget will be -- the monetary budget is going to be less here.
the city of Austin, throughout the state of Texas.
anyway, I’ll leave it at that.
school is in session again.
20 miles per hour or lower in school zones.
no cell phone, no texting or anything.
even if the lights are not on during school hours, please don't do that.
remain cognizant that we don't want to lose our kids.
I still remember arianna who died in 1997, idiot drunken driver killed her on oltorf.
anyway, I wanted to say that.
>> [ buzzer sounds ] and keep up the good work.
we need to work together.
thank you very much.
have a good day.
>> thank you very much.
>> happy new year, gus.
>> steven turner.
is mr. Turner here?
>> I’ve been in Austin for a few years earlier and noticed quite the change.
lately in the last six months I personally had two vehicles towed to a storage facility.
and the first was legally parked and tiblghted and towed.
the ticket was dismissed.
I received no reimbursement of my tow charges.
as the fine print on their paperwork needs to be reviewed and these companies need to be reviewed.
the second vehicle in a parking lot where permission to park was given.
no physical parking space was necessary as the vehicle was a scooter.
a vehicle was able to share the same space as where I was parked.
the parking lot is shared on the same level with no divisions with two other businesses.
one of which is only open in the early evening.
so this has become more of a national thing than people really realize.
this is a place that it can start to be reviewed here in Austin.
the national part I’m talking about, eve talked to people from other states already.
I don't share the internet, but just physically talked to people.
it's disarrayed people's families.
husband and wife and kids not able to take care of their kids because their vehicle is towed in.
had to try to find another vehicle to get to work and lost jobs or whatever.
it's really one of the drastic things that needs to be reviewed.
I’ve talked to the f.b.i.
about my vehicles personally as I’ve started a business in filming and these are tools of my trade.
these are cars that one of a kind car hand built and other vehicles that are classics.
and these things are going either for parts or to be rebuilt and sold for thousands upon thousands of dollars.
so as it is, I faxed a judge back in fort worth and I ran into trouble with the department of transportation as my house was broken into and titles were stolen.
so without vin numbers, especially a car that's hand built, it's not easy to trace these things.
the f.b.i.
hasn't been helpful, and that's in fort worth and in Austin.
so these things, I’ve written president obama a letter and whether I’ve got -- received a letter and my primary, I don't know.
my second agenda is -- I know I have three minutes.
around six and 12th.
these exits need to be reviewed as far as being repaved.
I know the city has kind of fallen down on some of the things, so it's getting kind of slick out there when it rains and these pavements are wearing down.
and for vehicles to safely stop.
it would be another thing to go ahead and make an extra review of.
thank y'all very much.
>> thank you, mr. Turner.
>> and happy new year and keep Austin beautiful.
>> happy new year to you.
>> morris priest.
>> morning, judge, Commissioners.
morris priest speaking on my own behalf.
I did want to let people know that cap metro has decided to do something extremely ridiculous and that is raise their faisal shazhad on the handy capital and senior people.
we have the chamber of commerce involved with the transportation issues here instead of city officials and they pretty much do whatever the chamber asks them to do.
one of the things they're doing is they're saying that ideally the fares should generate 20% of our revenue and that taxes should generate 80% of our revenue for transportation when it comes to cap metro.
of course they do comparisons with cities that don't get the one cent sales tax.
of course we know that cap metro enjoyed that for years.
they've renegative odd their -- renege odd their commitment to pay back the city and even they say they're going to, they have gone to campo and we saw this where campo veeted in the very same people who were complaining about cap metro complain being repaying the city millions of dollars.
in the meantime txdot was writing off millions of dollars for toll roads.
things are looking good at the capital as the legislative session, a lot of conservative issues are on the agenda.
we do have garnett coleman wanting to raise our taxes one cent.
that's going to go over pretty much like a led balloon.
along with pete ego, the democrat from alpine's legislation on putting asterisk's on d.w.i.
drunk drivers' license.
that's going to go over about like a screen door on a submarine.
but basically we're having a lot of legislation that's going to be defeated pretty much even if it's not defeated on the floor, it will be defeated in the appropriations.
hopefully we'll get a new speaker.
but if we don't, we think that we will have things straightened out.
and the calendars.
but won't be straightened out is you're getting into the capitol.
it's not an easy thing to do these days with their screening.
and so I expect long lines at the front door.
so that will be interesting.
but I wanted to encourage people to get out and be active.
you can make a difference.
we are making a difference.
and we're seeing this at the capitol.
and hopefully we'll see this next election here in Austin and Travis County.
I want to remind everybody to vote republican, vote early and vote often.
happy new year.
>> [ laughter ]
>> happy new year.
>> I just thought I would share that part with you.
but no, we have been making some pretty good strides and especially in the area of transportation.
we do need to get our budget under control.
I think we're going to see that happen in year.
I did want to say that there are other issues in Austin that we need to look at and one is with we need a new fire chief for a.f.d.
since she's been on the job, 70 firefighters have retired.
this is failed leadership, failed management from the city level.
>> [ buzzer sounds ] both basically due to the failed leadership of our city manager, marc ott.
thank you.
>> thank you, mr. Priest.
mr. Kim, are you here for citizens communication.
>> yes, sir.
>> I gratefully appreciate all of you, my honorable Commissioners' court, judge Sam Biscoe and Commissioners Ron Davis, sarah Eckhardt and Margaret Gomez and Huber.
today is 77th day of delay of written response from Travis County Commissioners' court to me, john kim, resident of Travis County.
who is a citizens communication of one same case started right here, (indiscernible) October 19th, 2010 on to today.
every Tuesday except the election day I send the request and the case of two parties for Travis County, state of Texas and the united states.
I provide all the code of law this court have for its jurisdiction to review my case and the judicial power, but yesterday I had a meeting here, right here -- not here.
in the court office.
and Travis County attorney denied jurisdiction over this court after 75 days after denial of jurisdiction is unconstitutional, not acceptable.
he should have denied right away or at least before some -- maybe 10 days or 20 days, not 75 days after.
it's illegal, unacceptable.
look at the president obama and the chief justice of the united states.
they responded immediately.
they made a mistakes, a couple of mistakes on January the 20th, 2009, they corrected it the next day.
and the white house responded to me two written letters within six days, one January the 12th -- July 12, 2001 and another one July 18, 2001.
but this Commissioners' court and Travis County attorney wrote to me nothing, just talking to me we have no jurisdiction.
it's not acceptable, unconstitutional, unprofessional.
and the Travis County attorney told me just by talking, you lost legally.
yes, jesus christ also lost legally in his government of pilate governor.
those government denied jesus christ judicial right.
that was 2000 years ago.
not right here in the united states.
>> [ buzzer sounds ] 21st century of american government.
the president barack obama.
he is doing his best to keep american government, american democracy perfect right here in the united states.
>> thank you, dr. Kim.
>> happy new year.
>> anybody else for citizens communication, whether you signed in or not?
let me just announce for Travis County employees and managers that the combined charities deadline is tomorrow at five p.m.
so there's an additional two-day grace period, mr. Hille.
>> already sent mine in.
>> for those who meant to do well, but have not done it yet.
>> the deadline is...
>> tomorrow January fifth at five a.m.
>> five p.m.
>> all right.
Mr. Reeferseed did arrive for citizens communication.
so we'll listen to him now.
>> thank you, sir.
well, I know it's hard to grasp, but worldwide political leadership have taken on weapons of mass depopulation to forcibly bring down the numbers of human services and killing people is not the answer to managing our seemingly exploding populations.
fully developed countries wild wide already actually are strul struggling to keep up with a replacing rate of 23.3 kids per couple.
so the non-violent lovingly peaceful way to help the planet is to promote sustainable economic development, divisive transcriballism driven by illusion of victimology hurts us all.
making babies just to punish the white man or keep increasing one's tribe is not good.
help bring babies into our world with love for everyone.
and that is the answer here.
big gotry bigotry.
bringing freedom from bringing more economic development is the key.
unfortunately diabolical powers that be in our world decided decades ago that killing people is how they want to manage population.
toxic sludge and fluoridated water, as par tame, msg have been weapons inflicted on all of us for year.
now we get tainted vaccines, crops, constant chem trails in the sky and who knows what else is being used now to kill everyone.
so we all have to face reality and get involved.
you, me and everyone, you know has to get up and do something.
I come to these meetings when possible thanks to my -- talk to my neighbors, friends and family, but that's not enough.
we all need to do more.
why not write letters to the editor, call talk radio, call political leaders.
talk with everyone because we are running out of time.
fluoridated water is being used -- was being used -- has been used by the soviets.
then the nazis.
now our political schemers to dumb us down and make us more dos sill while they kill us, resist.
demand clean water for your pets, garden, future.
call the mayor, 974-2250.
that's the mayor.
please, say please stop poisoning us.
we don't want to die early while the elite keep making more evil plans.
