Item 1, consider and take appropriate action on proclamation congratulating the city of Jonestown on its 25th anniversary as an incorporated city.
Commissioner Huber.

>> I believe we have mayor dean armstrong and city manager dean dobson here.

>> good morning.

>> I feel really honored to be sitting here with you all.

>> we're proud to have you here.

>> thank you.

>> and I’m proud to read this proclamation honoring your 25th anniversary.
I want to say before I launch into this that Jonestown is a real star on the north shore and they are taking the lead in things like green energy and some innovative programs out there and proud to have you all in my precinct.

>> thank you.

>> so let's recognizes Jonestown.
whereas Jonestown is nestled in the beautiful hill country full of cedar and rocky hill sides that slope true pristine Lake Travis, the greatest of all lakes in Texas.
and whereas Jonestown's picturesque location beckons many to live there to enjoy its high quality of life.
and whereas the supportive community of Jonestown is strong, vibrant and continues to grow from its original 3.36 square miles so its current 7.16 square miles.
and whereas Jonestown is named for warren and e.a.
jones and whereas the joneses owned many businesses involved in lumber, construction, real estate, funerals and even a store and cafe.
and whereas Jonestown embodies a Texas small town feel with a great community spirit that has become a fitting tribute to the joneses and their Texas ideals.
and whereas in December 1984, Jonestown became incorporated as a type a general law city.
and whereas the city of Jonestown is celebrating its 25th anniversary on December 3, 2010.
now therefore be it proclaimed that the Travis County Commissioners court does hereby recognize the city of Jonestown upon their 25th anniversary.
I move approval.

>> second.

>> and would you folks like to say a word and also maybe give the details of your celebrations for Friday?

>> yes.
well, of course, we incorporated and me being the first mayor, great things are happening.
the city is in good financial shape.
we're -- we're just moving along and we are really blessed to be working really well with our local chamber of commerce.
and so we're going to have a celebration on December 3rd, which we will always do and light our big christmas tree.
then there's a parade in the park and for the first time this year we're going to have a parade of lights.
and the parks department and the maintenance people and everybody -- anybody that wanted to help and all the citizens are invited to bring in their own declaration and they are put in the park.
we have a 32-acre park on Lake Travis and it's open to the public.
we have three boat ramps, two are open.
and there -- can drive through and it will be open until christmas and we're real excited about that and I believe our Commissioner is going to attend and that's just terrific.
but I just have to say, y'all, this is so great because I have a lot of connection with all of you up there either through the communication workers of america or through the central labor council and everything and so it's been a real pleasure to watch y'all on t.v.
I’m impressed, I really am impressed.
and dan dodson, it will be his third year anniversary, three years with us, as our city administrator.
he's the best one we've had so far.
we've been lucky, but all along, but dan is just absolutely brings volumes of knowledge to our city.
and so we're real excited.

>> we'll see you on Friday evening and I believe that starts at 6:00?

>> right, 6:00.
if you are in line at 6:00, I’m having most of the kids and everybody show up at 5:30.

>> but those who are coming for the event --

>> our councilmember's deposition in san antonio, all the others aren't back from holiday or whatever, but we've told them, you know, get this over with because we've got big items on the agendas coming up and you have to be there.

>>

>> [inaudible].

>> there's certain times I tell them you can't go anywhere.
that's like at budget time when the rate has to be passed and all that and they just have to be there.

>> thank you.

>> and they are very good.
I have an excellent council.
excellent.

>> and you must have learned this -- this fiscal discipline and this robust leadership style through the wca.

>> absolutely.
that was a -- the cwa.

>> that was a good deal for me because I learned how to chair meetings and I’ve always had people working with me that make me look very good.
and so it helped out because that's what I like to do best is chair meetings.

>> and the communication workers of america was a great breeding ground for women leaders.

>> the first woman president of the Texas afl-cio becky molar is cwa.

>> well, congratulations on 25 years.

>> thank you.

>> good to have both of you.

>> thank you.

>> [applause]

>> all in favor?
that passes by unanimous vote.

>> so are you going to bring it with you?

>> I’m going to give it to you now.
we're going to take a picture.
