Travis County Commissioners Court
Tuesday, November 23, 2010,
Item 17
>> 17, consider and take appropriate action on a draft of the substantial amendments to the program years 2007-2009 action plans related to the use of community development block grant funds available through h.u.d.
and post for public comment.
>> good morning, Travis County health and human services.
>> good morning.
>> today's action we are requesting that the court approve the substantial amendment action plans 2007-2009 so that we can find $174,000 for affordable land acquisition or for land acquisition for affordable housing development.
it would allow Austin habitat for humanity to allow four -- in eastern Travis County and it will also allow them to have architectural control which will allow the homes to be more affordable.
a couple weeks ago we came to you with our preliminary plan in terms of funding the acquisition, and I’m happy to say that we were able to find project savings from administration, public services and some -- also some savings from the apache shores project to fund almost the $134,000 in its entirety.
we had thought originally we were going to have to reduce the home buyer assistance program by about $40,000 and now we think it will be around $18,000.
so with that being the final plan for funding for this project, we are requesting that the court approve the draft amendment that was attached to your backup document and this would allow to us put it out for public comment tomorrow and go through December 23 and there would be public comment regarding the action.
>> pretty straightforward.
move approval.
I’m glad you can find the additional money there.
that really means a lot to do what we need to do.
>> second?
>> so thank you for finding the money.
>> do we have to approve this change.
>> we send it to them just for notification purposes.
>> any more discussion?
all in favor?
that passes by unanimous vote.
thank you very much.
