Travis County Commissioners Court

Item 23

View captioned video.

Now, let's call back to order the voting session of the Travis County Commissioners court.
you are down on 23?

>> yes, sir.

>> 23 is to consider and take appropriate action on a joint election agreement for the November 2nd, 2010 joint special elections with Travis County and participating entities, city of Austin, city of bee cave, city of rollingwood, city of Round Rock, Austin community college, coupland independent school district, eanes independent school district, Travis County emergency service district number 4 and Travis County emergency services district number 5.
since you are here, I guess they would want to know why we're doing it on November 16th when the election was November 2nd.
what would you tell him?

>> I would tell him this is a formality.
the election agreements go back when entities conducted their own elections and the joint election agreement was for people to share the polling place so they could have their little tables in the same polling place and live happily together on election day.
this is something we still have to go through by law.
and we have to collect all the signatures of every entity to make the joint election agreement whole.
so it takes a while for us to get signatures and we got the final signature the day after election day.
and immediately compiled the agreement and brought it forward to court.
and here we are today asking post-election that you approve this agreement, please.

>> knowing him as I do, I’m sure he'd be happy with your explanation.

>> thank you, judge.

>> therefore, I move approval.

>> second.

>> any more discussion?
all those in favor?
that carries unanimously.
