Item A2

>> thank y'all very much.
let's call up a-2, consider and take appropriate action on items associated with the 2010 Travis County combined charities campaign, including the 2010 fiscal agent agreement.
mr. Hille gave us yesterday an original of the proposed agreement.
it is exactly the same as we used last year and in previous years except for the date.

>> right.

>> right?
and so we will chat with the other side about making that agreement renewable annually so that we won't have to come back --

>> so we will have to do it for next year.

>> it will have to be done for next year.
so the first thing will be that agreement.
any issues with it?
then I move approval of the fiscal agent agreement.

>> second.

>> discussion?
all in favor?
that passes by unanimous vote.
in the past we have authorized the printing of about 5,000 booklets or brochures that we used for combine charities.
my recommendation this year is we print 4,000.
we're starting a little late.
we try to get those in the hands of employees who are interested, but some departments simply do not participate en masse, and if we assume that we have roughly 4500 employees, that may be 500 don't participate, that gives us 4,000 booklets should be sufficient.
any issues with that?
I move approval.

>> second.

>> discussion?
all in favor?
that passes by unanimous vote.
we will ask our print shop to print those expeditiously.
the other thing is that this court previously approved a recommendation that we use multiple co-chairs and that we try to get department heads and managers to work their respective departments.
and although we annually start a little earlier than this year, I think that most of our soliciting and fund-raising really is done a week or two before thanksgiving up through about christmas.
so this is typically our best time.
and so I guess what I’m suggesting is that we encourage departments to follow through on that, hopefully beginning with the Commissioners' court.
and I will urge all of the managers who work for elected officials as well as the Commissioners' court to work their departments for us.
anything else on number 2?
then we'll have it back on if necessary.
I did chat with the county clerk after the election.
she had been incredibly busy during the budget process and the election.
she indicate that had she would be able to give a helping hand now.
of course both of us thought that there would not be a recount or anything like that.
my guess is that that recount will probably delay her active involvement for a few days.
