Items 25 and 26

View captioned video.

Now this morning we did delay action -- delay consideration of mr. Eckstein's items, 25 and 26, and i understand he believes he needs four or five members of the court present rather than waste the time with the three of us. He didn't use those exact words, but four or five would be preferable to three court members, i understand.

>> commissioner, judge biscoe, commissioners, deece eckstein, intergovernmental relations officer. We have two items on the agenda, number 26 actually is the set of policies and procedures which the court would adopt in order to determine how it was going to handle and work with the intergovernmental relations office and how the office was going to work the court during the legislative sessions. One of those policies is that the court would take action on, let's say, the items only when four of the members of the court voted in favor of that. So i suppose what we could do is either adopt the legislative agenda with three of you here and adopt the policy that says we need four of you before we did anything else about it or we could just postpone taking action on this for the time being. I would leave that up to the court to decide what it would like to do.

>> we'll have these items back on next week.

>> i'd like to make a comment related to 25 because i wouldn't have voted for it or would have asked for a postponement today anyway since there seems to be a disconnect between my office or between the irg office and my office and timely communications and follow-through. So prior to this coming back to the court, i would like to see the careover that we've discussed -- carryover that we've discussed regarding county authority for off-premise signs. I gave it to you last week, it didn't make the workshop, it didn't make it today.

>> and if i can, commissioner, we had already put out the materials for the work session and what i want to do at the work session was discuss that and, of course, acknowledge the fact that we had neglected to put the item about the off-premise signs on there. And then i didn't want to change that between thursday and today.

>> why?

>> well, i just --

>> we talked about it in the work session.

>> right.

>> it would just require another agenda item in the future.

>> well, we'll certainly have it the next time we bring something before the court. If i may ask the court's indulgence, there's a hearing of a house county affairs committee next tuesday in san antonio in which they are going to discuss their recommendations regarding land use and growth management, and i was planning to attend that hearing. It's going to be at the city hall in san antonio next tuesday. So if we could have these items on the agenda two weeks from now, that would be better.

>> so that will be the 19th.

>> the 19th, yes, sir.

>> of october. Okay. Why don't we look at the wording, maybe we can get an update regarding that conference.

>> i'm sorry?

>> get an update on what happens at the conference you are going to.

>> at the county affairs --

>> on the 19th.

>> yes, sir.

>> we would have to post that for the court to receive an update.

>> yes.

>> ms. Porter, according to my records, that does it for today. Move adjournment.

>> second.

>> all in favor? That passes by unanimous vote.
