Number 2 is to approve resolution to the texas department of agriculture in support of a grant for meals on wheels and more. Please come forward. Should we read the resolution or is our approval sufficient?

>> one quick comment if i could.

>> please come forward. We've done this a few times before. It's required by the texas agriculture department.

>> judge, commissioners, thank you very much for considering approval of the resolution. I brought some quick numbers with me. Because of the approval of this court we've been able to leverage funding from the texas department of agriculture to the tune of about $2.9 million over the last three years to feed folks in our dmunt that are homebound and disabled. I'm just thanking court for what you do and i know how -- how much you care for the folks we serve. So we're very grateful for it.

>> okay. And that's a whole lot of seniors and disabled persons throughout the community, throughout the county.

>> thousands of them.

>> and the need is increasing, isn't it?

>> the numbers are skyrocketing, commissioner eckhardt. So many nonprofits that do good work in this town have the same story to tell you, the needs are great. But if you look at the demographics, we'll see such a huge increase with young folks and seniors. It will help us do good work.

>> is that federal money funneled through state or federal and state money?

>> no, judge, this is state money. We were able to get warren chis hom and kirk watson on the same page and pass legislation a few years ago and they created this fund. It's really $20 million a year statewide for meals on wheels programs. And the vote was unanimous in the senate and unanimous in the house to support it. But one of the key ingredients was that we got counties to provide support and if the county doesn't provide support, that funding would not be available to that county.

>> good strategy. It worked. All in favor? That passes by unanimous vote. We have this beautiful resolution for you. And once we approve it you're required to take it with you.

>> [ laughter ]
