Item 4

View captioned video.

Number 4 is to approve resolution recognizing September 18th, 2010 as take a loved one for a checkup day, end quote, in Travis County.
and we do have residents here to receive this proclamation.
while you're coming forward I'll read it.
whereas Travis County and stint have a history of working together to create greater awareness and have a positive impact on the health of individuals in our community, whereas the united states department of health health has traditionally reached out to the community using various forms of media, print, radio and television to educate the public on important serious diseases and health issues that disproportionately affect our populations.
whereas the Austin-Travis County health and human services department through its community health initiative unit along with our community partners and sponsors, h.e.b., fiction's health choice, the smile center, liberty medical, amerigroup, community air and apti con home health and I'm sure others have taken responsibility for creating awareness and access to health care for our residents through the coordination of local health events that include screenings for blood sugar, blood pressure, pregnancy, hiv testing and other health resources like medicaid eligibility and whereas Travis County encourages residents to join in the national take a loved one for a checkup day event by encouraging everyone to schedule regular health examinations and take preventive health measures by visiting a health care professional and community sponsored health event.
now therefore be it resolved that we the Travis County Commissioners court do here by proclaim September 18th, 2010 as take a loved one for a checkup day in Travis County.
and encourage all residents to increase their awareness of health disparities and to empower the community to take action to close the gap by scheduling a health examination or participating in a community event or fair.
and I move approval.
