Item 27, to consider and take appropriate action regarding appointment of chair persons and fundraising strategy for combined charities 2010 campaign.
what I just handed out, the core team did agree to work with the county judge and his staff on the combined charities 2010 campaign.
I thought about this.
we don't have to do it.
however, in these tough times, with so many of our residents in need, it seems to me appropriate that we at least try to raise as much money as possible for the participating non-profits, plus we're on a roll.
the last two years we raised historic amounts of funds for -- for corporations that -- that non-profit corporation that's serve our needy residents and so I think that it would be a shame for us to -- to discontinue that.
so the team coordinators have agreed and that's mr. Gieselman, flemming, corey, harlow, rhoades and jeffrey, by the way ms. Flemming was not at that meeting.
your colleagues agreed to volunteer for you, ms. Flemming.
I have appointed officials, actually appointed an elected officials, these individuals do not know of appointment yet.
the judge did not have an opportunity to chat with them because this is a notion that hit me late last night.
what I would like for you to do is assume responsibility for his or her workplace.
I think that that will give us our best shot at getting the same individuals who contributed previously to contribute again and if we can grow that list, then we will have achieved a whole lot.
so that's number 27.
we have been talking about doing it, I'm finally getting around to doing it.
I think annually we sort of pick up the pace in what, October?
and do most of our work October and November.
so -- so while late in the fiscal year, we are kind of on time consistent with what we have done previously.
if there's no objection, the county judge and his staff, by the way his staff has been volunteered or drafted also.
I put us down as chief coordinators.
it's a lofty title.
we'll work hard to earn it.
so without objection, we will make this happen.
