Number 2 is discuss and take appropriate action on budget amendments, transfers and discussion items.

>> judge, i just had a couple of questions on that, judge, and basically referring to actually a 1 of this particular item.

>> okay.

>> and, of course, what i'm trying to make sure of is that the use -- and if you can basically tell me the use of this particular software and things of that nature will be in place for how long? For a 1.

>> for a 1, this is for a new program that the justices of the peace started this fiscal year in fiscal year 10. Two of the precincts, 3 and 4, received funding from this special fund that has moneys allocated just for juvenile case management in the justice courts. So they got two juvenile case managers, one in each of those precincts and fiscal year 11 they will get a case manager in precinct 1. And these folks will be working very closely with the schools in those precincts and the schools that file truancy cases in the courts. And the software is to assist the juvenile case managers in tracking those cases and the services provided to the children and parents.

>> all right. So it's actually dealing with the tracking of truancy.

>> that's correct.

>> type situations, and, of course, at some time after this new software has been used under these particular licenses that we're using it for, at some time there should be some data to know the ups and downs of what we're doing here today.

>> correct.

>> and i see what's happening this year and, of course, if precinct 1 and also 3 and 4 will be recipient, the license is just not restricted just for them, is it?

>> correct. All of the jps can use it.

>> well, i guess at some point in this it would be good for someone to come back and report to see how -- and i guess the acronym is train.

>> correct.

>> see how train is working and get some kind of report, some performance measures, i guess, to see what we're doing is worth the investment and stuff like that. And at this point it's $600, but you still got to, you know, watch the performance of things and see what effect it's having on reduction in our truancy.

>> exactly.

>> so i would like to maybe track than a get back with us sometimes and i don't know when that's going to happen.

>> i would expect our first reports on this will come during the f.y. 12 budget submissions. We will require that the judges that have funding from this special fund submit performance measures for those juvenile case managers and those programs.

>> okay.

>> why is it that this is not taken from the jp technology fund?

>> it could be, it could go from the jp technology fund, but right now this fund 067 is very healthy and fund 067 is specifically for hiring juvenile case managers and for getting them the supplies and equipment that they need specifically for their job. So we just thought at this point this one is a healthier fund.

>> so this is allocated reserve for that special fund.

>> for that special fund and it can only be spent for this. Can't be spent for anything else.

>> and commissioner, if would prefer for the judges to come back after the fall semester and give you a report, say, earlier than what they submit their budget --

>> please do that because this is a very serious problem here in the county and that's truancy, it really is. And so this is some way to track it to see where we are on that, how to reduce truancy, which costs everybody money, then i think think is something that's very appropriate. So it would be good to see how it actually works, what's really happening with it under performance measures. So i would really applaud that and except that offer.

>> all in favor? Is there a second?

>> i second it.

>> all in favor? That passes by unanimous vote. Thank you all very much.
