Item 24

24 is to consider and take appropriate action on the recertification of the travis county emergency operations plan. This is fairly straightforward, but it's something that we need to do.

>> morning judge, commissioners. With me i'm pete baldwin, travis county emergency management coordinator. With me this morning to my right is patrice rye son. She is our emergency planner. She is our newest member that we have brought down so she can enjoy this with all the rest of us. And then further to the right is stacy moore eduardo, who is the emergency management coordinator. What we brought forward to you today is chapter 418 of the government code requires that each city and county have an emergency operations plan on file with the state, an approved plan. We have had one since 1993. It also requires that we recertify it and have the court approve it every five years. So basically this is the umbrella document that encompasses an all hazards approach. It is very general in nature because it covers all of the incorporated -- all of the incorporated cities in travis county except for the city of austin who operates their own, and the village of prior cliff. So we run all the way from the village of sanly anna all the way to Pflugerville, that size of scope. It is very generic in nature. We work with each of the cities to develop their own standard operating procedures that are very specific to their jurisdictions. However, this does meet the requirements for the state. And the only change in this document since the last time we recertified it was in our line of succession if something should happen to our dear judge, in lient of succession for being in charge goes by seniority of the commissioners court, we like to go a little deeper than that, though. What we did was years ago we had the district judges by order, which went way deep, we had a discussion with the judge and several of the others and we decided that the best thing to do is change that line of succession after the commissioners court to the executive managers. They are more in tune with day-to-day. They deal with emergency operations. Many of them have active roles. So that is the only change since we brought it to you five years ago. So we will be glad to address any questions you might have.

>> questions? Now, if the department heads have not been wishing us good health, they'll start now, won't they?

>> yes, sir.

>> [ laughter ]

>> move approval.

>> second.

>> discussion? All in favor? That passes by unanimous vote. Mr. Connally, you didn't come down to address us on that item. Okay. It passes on a vote of seven to zero. Item 19, thank y'all very much, welcome new employee.
