Consent

View captioned video.

Consent items are next, posted for consents are c 1 through c 5. Let's consider adding the following items to the consents motion if anyone would like for us to discuss any of these separately, please say so as i call out the number of the item. Number 3, 4, in its entirety, 4 a through 4 d, 5 a and b, 6, 7 a and b.

>> i have comments.

>> which one?

>> well, i have a question on -- i would say both.

>> what's your question?

>> well, i'm -- i'm just wondering where they come from and -- and where are they going and -- and -- let's see.

>> [indiscernible]

>> [inaudible - no mic] one is a set of old gun that's we are trading in. Basically we get a credit for that and use that credit to buy tasers and b we use the credit to buy ammunition.

>> is there a time where we as a community a county or citizenry ever voted that we are in favor of tasers? Being that they kill people --

>> as far as i know, that has not been put to voters. But law enforcement folk say often they have a choice between taser or a 38. And that's -- that's as you know we have -- we have purchased many tasers in travis county. Purchasing can give you a whole lot more information than that. But basically this is a local concern. This is old equipment that we're not using anyway. We are trading in to get a credit. We take that credit and in one case purchase ammunition and the other case purchase tasers.

>> i hope that we have rules

>> [indiscernible]

>> [inaudible - no mic]

>> 7 a and b,. 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 16, 17, by the way on number 19, we need to post that for public hearing. 15 days in advance of action. So 19 we need to pull, and next week we will have an appropriate public hearing -- well, on 19 maybe we ought to pull it up for action to set a public hearing. As soon as possible with an eye to having a discussion and action three weeks from today, which would be august 17th? But let's pull it up and do that, okay. But we cannot consider 19 today because we have not had that public hearing.

>> all right. Number 23, 24 and i think -- i think the county clerk needs our help in -- in -- looks like in getting election judges. Alternates because there are still quite a few unfilled. But for the list before us, we recommend approval. 24 then. 25, then 26, 27 we are waiting on a legal opinion from -- from john hilly. On the county judge's participation on that item. And so as soon as we get that, we'll act on it.

>> okay.

>> and a 1. Move approval of those items, include them on the consent motion.

>> second.

>> would anyone like for us to discuss any of the items that we just announced?

>> what about 21? Has that already been decided, are you deciding it?

>> we are --

>> more election judges that are

>> [indiscernible]

>> yes, sir. That list has a whole lot of recommended individuals. Most of those individuals have served before. But the list does not recommend specific individuals for some of the precincts. The reason for that is that we do not have individuals for those precincts yet. So wave lot of them where we have not yet assigned there instead of a person's name. That's why i suggested to the court that we may have to get with the county clerk to see if we can help out. Not everybody is as dedicated and patriot as you, mr. Reeferseed.

>>

>> [inaudible - no mic] it can be one objection, there are some general criteria that you have to meet, but really pretty general.

>> it could be up to two years

>> [inaudible - no mic]

>> well, if we do -- whatever the term is, we reappoint anyway. If you get in there, it's almost like running for county judge.

>> [laughter] if you get in there, every time you are bold enough to run for reelection, you can do it. These are precincts officers the same thing.

>> [indiscernible] you would make a fine alternate, mr. Reeferseed, we would miss you down here for citizens communication

>> [laughter]

>>

>> [inaudible - no mic]

>>

>> [laughter]

>> did we get a second?

>> didn't vote.

>>

>> [indiscernible] all in favor of the motion? That passes by unanimous vote.
