>> number 4 is to consider and take appropriate action regarding the process and schedule for developing the advertisement for the public hearing the public hearing to set elected officials' salaries for fiscal year 2011 and the calendar for action for the remainder of the salary setting process.

>> good morning. The commissioners court did receive a memo from our office that just delineated the process as well as where we stand today. As you know, you were briefed last week by rodney rhodes, the executive manager of planning and budget and leroy concerning the parameters of where we stand today for the preliminary budget. Included in those discussions was the most current information on fy 11 benefit proposed or possible increases and costs as well as the current effort to include a compensation reserve with sufficient funding for approximately 2.5% compensation increase for rank and file in fy '11. Back in february there were discussions when we were putting together the fy '11 budget process that elected officials' salary increases for fy '11 would be matched as much as possible to rank and file employee increases. And therefore we have recommended a 2.5% increase to be reflected in the fy '11 advertisement of those elected officials not on the judicial pay scale. That cost would be approximately $47,000 over last year's budgeted salaries and benefits. We did include a draft add for your consideration that wealth be asking that you approve no later than june 22nd. This ad would appear in the chronicle and i would say that there are a couple of footnote related issues that we will need to fix by next week. One of them i believe was corrected yesterday and resent out. However, unfortunately the footnote indicating the official longevity pay was increased last -- not unfortunately being increased, but unfortunately i didn't realize that i needed to change that amount. So that amount will be changed and you will get a corrected one of these today probably.

>> which is that?

>> footnote is -- i actually had one where i corrected it. It is under footnote number 3 and footnote number had. That 3,840 should say 3,874. It was a very small increase, but i failed to change that. And i'll get that back out to you. I believe barbara is also giving you some information. And i also want to note that you have received or should have received a memo from debra hale concerning judicial longevity and i believe that can be discussed later on in executive session. I'm happy to answer any questions. And as far as the calendar is concerned, as i said previously, we do want to encourage the commissioners court to vote on the draft ad by june 22nd. The ad would appear on the chronicle june 21st. The public hearing would be july 13th and that same day the commissioners court would set the salary for the elected officials and the county judge's office would provide written notice of the salaries to each elected county and precinct officer. And the remainder of the dates that are on that calendar are concerning the grievance process, if that applies this year. I am happy to answer any questions.

>> so the ad would be the document with the footnotes?

>> yes, sir.

>> would it shock you if we approved that today? Two weeks early?

>> no.

>> we did need to make the corrections before we go forward.

>> it would -- i do believe that i should at least state that i did talk to the criminal courts offices this morning and they do not have anyone available today. I know that debra hale is out on training and i believe judge perkins is not available today. They are going to try to make arrangements to have someone here by next week. If you had questions concerning their requests and their memo.

>> do we have something in the ad that is covered in the memo?

>> yes.

>> the longevity. The footnote, excuse me.

>> so we ought to take our one week delay there, right, ms. Wilson?

>> i was thinking you might want to.

>> every time i try to show how efficient we are --

>> stuff gets in your way.

>> some impediment jumps up. We will discuss this item further in executive session under the consultation with attorney exception, right?

>> right.

>> hopefully later this morning.

>> oh, good.

>> [ laughter ]

>> i was planning on it being this afternoon already.

>> underline efficiency, court efficiency there.

>> [ laughter ]

>> i noticed that.
