>> we have a full cadre here from lago vista, if you want to sit down and introduce yourselves.
>> commissioner huber and judge biscoe, i appreciate the opportunity to -- to be up here and i appreciate the -- the proclamation. My name is randy krueger, i'm the mayor of lago vista.
>> i'm ron smith, councilmember.

>> welcome to all of you.
>> thank you all for making the trip down here. I know that the distance and time involved and the commitment to come to something like this is probably --
>> it's an honor, commissioner huber. It is quite an arduous trip
>> [laughter] i hope some people go back up the other way to lago vista and enjoy our beautiful city up there.
>> well, i encourage them to do so because you have a very special piece of travis county out that way. I'm very proud to read into the record this proclamation. In recognition of lago vista. Whereas lago vista is located in the heart of the legendary texas hill country with rolling hills, rocky slopes, steep canyons and forestation of oak and cedar trees and where Lake Travis is one of the most prominent features and whereas lago vista's beautiful location provides a quality of life that many people desire, and whereas the close knit community of lago vista is active, vibrant and continues to grow, and whereas lago vista embodies a true small-town feel with a great community spirit, that is most evident through the involvement and volunteerism of its citizens. And whereas in august 1984, the villages of highland lake estates, lago vista, bar k and highland country club became incorporated and whereas in 1985 the four villages merged and consolidated to become the city of lago vista. And wherein august of 2004 people the lago vista established a charter to grant full authority and power of local government to the city of lago vista, texas to reserve power to the people as provide understand the charter. Whereas lago vista is celebrating its 25th anniversary on may 28th, 2010, now therefore be it proclaimed that travis county commissioners court does hereby recognize the city of lago vista upon their 25th anniversary.

>> thank you, do you have one -- do you want to tell us about any special celebrations that you have going on out there.
>> we do have, in fact, coming this weekend, we are -- we are currently the -- we are sponsoring a street dance by our city hall, everybody is welcome to come. And then we have a -- there's actually the sail boat race or regatta that lands on our shores saturday, i believe it is. And we have a big pirates day during that time. We would like to certainly welcome all of y'all folks to come up there and participate in that celebration. So we have quite a few things planned for the -- for the anniversary.
>> that's fabulous. I encourage people to go out there, it's a beautiful place and great folks.
>> yes, ma'am, it is.
>> thank you so much.

>> i think the proclamation pretty well sums it up. We have a beautiful little city and a beautiful little area and we love visitors and we are a growing city. So ... All good things.
>> what's your population out there?
>> currently we're about -- i think around 6500, isn't that about right, bill?
>> yes, sir.
>> we have grown quite a bit in the last 10, 10, 15 years.
>> i think that you have been discovered.
>> [laughter] in a wonderful way.
>> right.
