Travis County Commissioners Court
May 4, 2010,
Item 10
>> number 10, consider and take appropriate action regarding star flight building claims for the medicare enrollment application, b, texas medicaid and healthcare providers change form, c, track air provider file application, and d, blue cross and blue shield of texas provider account number form. Mr. Hobby.
>> good morning, i'm danny hobby with the emergency service. You have before you four applications from four of our major insurance providers. This is continuing the transitioning of the star flight program to travis county from it being a split program between the city of austin and travis county to travis county only. So what we are doing here is asking you to approve the applications for those insurance agencies that we bill based upon our transport services. What medicare has, as well as the other three providers, has indicated is that we need to have what they call a unique provider enrollment identification number for star flight. In order for them to be able to pay off of our voice--invoices. So we are in need of that payment. Not that we are a profit organization at all. In fact, everything but that. But in order for us to be able to maintain what revenues we do bring in, then it's important for us to be able to have the appropriate applications filled out as they deem necessary. And so this is what this is about. There are two letters, judge, that they are asking you to sign and that is basically travis county to sign. One is your designate that ised --designated as ceo and also designating me as the administrative person that is actually called, what is it called, barb are.
>> authorized official.
>> authorized official. Then also delegated officialed. And pete baldwin, who as you know subs for me on occasion, is also designated as an authorized person as well. But what this will hopefully do is not have you every time we have a situation with these particular applications have to come back to court. And this allows us to process these applications and get them moving so that we can get our reimbursement as we should.
>> questions?. I did have a question about the purpose of those and you just answered that. So i don't have any issues with it. Mr. Refer seed.
>> i want to apologize. I'm just in the as quick as i hoped. And i meant to just make a comment but they were crowding the table. This last group about the mental health and mental retardation, talking about my mother. I lost everything. I just wanted to make a comment actually. And ask them for an opinion about california's upcoming full legalization of marijuana.
>> mr. Refer seed, is that on number 10? That is what we are discussing?
>> that is why i apologize. I didn't squeeze it in quick enough.
>> then you missed your opportunity. Sorry. If it's not about number 10.
>> okay. They didn't make a comment, that is all i can say.
>> okay, see you next time. Any more discussion on number 10? All in favor. That passes by unanimous vote. Now, for the county employees in the back row, are you all here on the human resources item? We will call that item at 1:30. We were told that hrmd had notified employees to be here then. So on item number seven, we will call up at 1:30 after lunch. Thank you and we'll see you then. By the way, that motion covered a, b, c and d to authorize county judge to sign on behalf of travis county at the appropriate places on those forms, the application forms.
