Item number 6. Approve proclamation declaring may 3-9, 2010, as public service recognition week and may 4, 2010 as travis county employee recognition day in travis county. Hello y'all. Shall i read the proclamation.

>> okay. Where as the partnership of public service has declared may 3-9, 2010, as public service recognition week with this year's theme government innovation and opportunity, whereas citizens benefit from travis county's public service delivery system that ensures justice and public safety, preserves health, serves veterans, provides safety net for the needy, fosters an efficient transportation system, promotes recreation the activities and preserves the county's natural resources, now i know what to say when people say what does county government do, whereas travis county government's approximately 4,600 employees judiciously manage taxpayer dollars to ensure accountability, efficiency, effectiveness in the delivery of aforementioned services, whereas the travis county value accountability, government trust sound fiscal policy, respect for individual, honesty and openness whereas public records nationwide chronicle the leadership, commitment, innovation, contributions and valuable services provided by public sector employees in an assortment of disciplines, such as public administration, human resources management, information technology, accounting, finance, law, criminal justice, emergency service, health and human services, medicine and more, whereas the commissioners court recognizes and wishes to acknowledge the service and commitment of travis county's $4 --4,600 servants by displaying a banner on the granger building, whereas the commissioners court will publicly recognize on may 4 2010, 172 employees who have completed 20, 25, 30 and 35 years of service with travis county government, whereas the commissioners court challenges each elected and appointed official to acknowledge the contributions of their employees especially during the week of may 3-9, national public service recognition week, now therefore let it be known that we members of the travis county commissioners court do here by proclaim may 3-the, 2010, as public service recognition week and may 4, 2010, as travis county employee recognition day.

>> thank you. I also have chris nelson here who would like to provide some details around some of the activities coming next week to recognize our employees.

>> good morning commissioners.

>> good morning.

>> we as a human resource department are very appreciative of the service and commitment of all travis county employees. The opportunity to recognize and celebrate them the first week in may is not only important to them but very important to us as a department. So we're really excited that every year we get an opportunity to recognize all our employees, especially those that have had milestones from 20, 25, 30 and 35 years of service. So we have got plans to put the banner up this week as a reminder and a special significance of this recognition. And also we put in plans to invite all of our honorees, 172 of them, to come to commissioners court next week. We will have two volunteer photographer, philip arnold and chris daling will be volunteering and we have asked honor es if they would like to have a photo op to show up with their best smile. We'll will have everyone present to receive certificates and get picture taken and to publicly acknowledge them is extremely important. On behalf of all travis county employees, we graciously are privileged and honored to be able to accept this proclamation this morning.

>> let me give you this proclamation and just say that as the capitol of the state there's a good number of our population that are public servants even they are in travis county government, city of austin, state as well as various divisions of the state. I'm very proud to be part of that family and proud to present you this proclamation today.
