Travis County Commissioners Court
April 13, 2010,
Item 9
Number 9 is to review and approve requests regarding grant proposals, applications, contracts and permissions to continue, a was the one there's a question about, annual application to the target corporation for the sheriff's office to receive target and blue law enforcement grant that will be used to enhance the activities of the sheriff's gang resistance education and training program. Mr. Reeferseed.
>> the blue law, i'm confused. The blue law enforcement grant is that kind of a remnant of when we used to have a blue law or am i confused about that? Is that just the name of the -- the target and blue law enforcement grant. I was just confused. As far as i knew the blue law no longer existed.
>> as far as i know that's the name of the grant.
>> travis county planning and budget office, that's the name established by the target corporation. I don't think it's related.
>> this is our blue law, it's their phrase.
>> right. Probably blue because a lot of law enforcement officers' uniforms -- is my assumption. It's a relatively small grant. We've received it several times. It's used for outreach programs in the sheriff's office. This particular one is working with 130 students to provide some outreach for gang prevention programs.
>> sounds great. And blue and brown, maybe include the sheriffs next time. But thanks so much.
>> move approval of 9-a.
>> any more discussion? All in favor? That passes by unanimous vote.
