in 2009 more than 500 persons experienced sudden cardiac arrest in Travis County.
due to the efforts of our citizens, our 911 dispatchers, our fire departments, our e.m.s.
paramedics, our area hospitals, 63 persons left the hospital alive.
this Friday, February 12th at 9:00:00, the take heart Austin sudden cardiac arrest initiative and the Austin-Travis County e.m.s.
system will sponsor the 8th annual survivor celebration.
we will recognize and celebrate our survivors while also recognizing those individuals who saved their lives.
we're honored also to have Commissioner Eckhardt join us to read the Travis County proclamation at this event before nearly 200 people representing survivors, family, friends, fire departments, e.m.s.
responders, and hospitals.
three of our 2009 survivors will speak about their experiences.
they come from different parts of Travis County, but they all have one thing in common, they all survived their cardiac arrest.
we invite all of you to come and join us this Friday, city hall council chambers, to recognize our survivors and to recognize those who saved their lives.
and thank you again for all of you for your continued support of this effort and of the Austin-Travis County e.m.s.
system.
and I'm happy to answer any questions you may have.
